A cavity can extend from the first surface to a cavity contact surface located between the first surface and the second surface. A protrusion can extend from the second surface away from the first surface to a protrusion contact surface. The protrusion contact surface can be generally curved to engage a cavity contact surface of an adjacent link. A protrusion sidewall can engage a cavity sidewall of the adjacent link.

    摘要: A light weight battery powered x-ray source capable of producing high intensity x-ray emissions with low power consumption. A modular construction locates all high voltage components including the x-ray tube, spark gap trigger, spiral capacitor and the secondary of a step-up transformer in a sealed canister which can be decoupled both mechanically and electrically by unscrewing a simple threaded coupling. A center module contains the primary of the step-up transformer, circuit boards for electronic components and a pulse counter/selector. A battery pack with rechargeable Nicad batteries is removably connectable to the center module. High intensity pulses are achieved in part by connecting the spiral capacitor at midlength to the spark gap trigger. An improved x-ray tube with light weight but effective lead shielding and an overall length of less than two inches is also disclosed.

    摘要: A device for penetrating tissues within a living body, comprises a shaft extending from a proximal end which, in an operative position, remains outside the body to a distal end which, in the operative position, is within a living body, the shaft comprising a channel extending therethrough from the proximal end to an opening at the distal end. The device also comprises a needle extending within the channel and comprising a tissue penetrating tip. A portion of an outer surface of the needle includes a first structure wrapping therearound and configured to mate with a second structure formed on a corresponding portion of an inner wall of the shaft. The first and second structures mate with one another so that, as the needle is urged axially through the channel, the mating causes the needle to rotate about an axis of the channel.

    摘要: A steerable device, such as a steerable catheter, may include a control handle and an insertion shaft extending outwardly therefrom. In use, the insertion shaft is navigated to an area of interest for examination and/or treatment thereof. The steerable device may include a steering system that controls the deflection angle of the distal end of the insertion shaft in two or more non-planar directions for navigating the insertion shaft to the area of interest. The steering system may also include a locking mechanism for arresting or partially arresting the movement of the distal end of the insertion shaft in a first direction independent of arresting or partially arresting the movement of the distal end in a second non-planar direction.
