摘要: A method to audit portable cassettes removeably disposed in a data storage library comprising a plurality of storage slots, a plurality of portable cassettes removeably disposed in one or more of said plurality of storage slots, and a pass-through accessor comprising a moveable fixturing apparatus, wherein the pass-through accessor is moveably disposed in said data storage library. The method disposes the pass-through accessor adjacent a first one of said plurality of storage slots, removes a first portable cassette from the first storage slot, and attaches the first portable cassette to a first fixturing assembly disposed on the fixturing apparatus. The method then removes a second portable cassette from the first storage slot, and attaches the second portable cassette to a second fixturing assembly disposed on the fixturing apparatus.

摘要: A storage slot for removably holding and aligning data storage cartridges of differing dimensions. Two bowed leaf springs are positioned within the storage slot, at two side walls and opposite from, respectively, two opposite side walls. The bowed leaf springs extend in a direction parallel to a direction of insertion and withdrawal of a data storage cartridge, and are fixed at the end closest to the opening. A bowed portion of each bowed leaf spring forms a ramp surface towards the opening and towards a corresponding opposite side wall. The bowed leaf springs are located a distance from the corresponding opposite side wall to form an interference fit with the smallest dimensioned data storage. The bowed leaf springs thus provide compression toward a data storage cartridge, to hold and align the data storage cartridge against the opposite side wall.

摘要: A method, system, and computer program product for sensing the presence and/or misplacement of mechanical sub assemblies (MSAs) within storage slots of automated storage libraries. Each MSA is tracked based on signed empty cell barcode labels. Signed empty cell barcode labels are utilized to uniquely identify the frame, column, and row coordinates of one or more MSAs. The storage library automatically scans all signed empty cell barcode labels utilizing a scanner mounted on a robotic device. The system provides a counter for each MSA, allowing the storage library to track the usage of the MSA. As usage of the MSA reaches a predefined lifecycle, the library automatically generates an alert to replace the MSA. When a MSA is rearranged within the storage library, the library automatically maps the new frame, column, and row coordinates of the MSA. The counter dynamically modifies the usage count of the MSA according to the unique cell barcode label, thereby tracking all current and previous cartridges, and/or other items that may be scanned during MSA activity.

摘要: An apparatus, system, and method are disclosed for automatically backing up a dynamically created resource group. One embodiment of the apparatus includes an event module, a resource group module, and a backup module. The event module receives an event notification of an unanticipated system event, such as a system failure or similar event. The resource group module dynamically creates a resource group made up of resources (files, directories, applications, databases, etc.) in response to the event notification. The resource group may be created based on which resources are within a specified classification and have a timestamp within a specified time range. The backup module initiates a backup operation to copy the resource group to a backup location. The backup module backs up as much of the resource group as possible within the time between the resource group creation and the time that the system may become unavailable.
