摘要: This invention comprises an adsorption process for the removal of at least N2O from a feed gas stream that also contains nitrogen and possibly CO2 and water. In the process the feed stream is passed over adsorbents to remove impurities such as CO2 and water, then over an additional adsorbent having a high N2O/N2 separation factor. In a preferred mode the invention is an air prepurification process for the removal of impurities from air prior to cryogenic separation of air. An apparatus for operating the process is also disclosed.

摘要: A radial flow reactor vessel is disclosed for use in gas purification, separation or reaction processes and most suitably used in prepurification processes. The reactor has internal baskets for confining a bed of active material. The baskets are rigidly supported at both the top and bottom ends of the reactor and have walls that are axially flexible and radially rigid. The vessel has multiple movable support columns designed to facilitate pre-stressing of the baskets to offset axial compressive loads induced from thermal cycling.

The reactor has two concentric internal baskets which are rigidly supported at both the top and bottom ends of the reactor. The reactor has a removable section in the inner basket to accommodate rotating arms to dense load one or more layers of active materials between the concentric baskets.

摘要: This invention provides a pressure swing adsorption process for purifying a synthesis gas stream containing from 60 to 90 mole % hydrogen and impurities such as CO2, CH4, N2, and CO. The PSA process of the invention further provides a method of adsorbing substantially all of the nitrogen and other contaminants from the feed gas stream; wherein the feed stream is passed at superatmospheric pressure through a plurality of adsorbent beds and each adsorbent bed contains at least a CaX, LiA, LiX or calcium containing mixed cation zeolite having a SiO2/Al2O3 mole ratio of 2.0-2.5. Such process involves sequentially pressurizing, depressurizing, purging and repressurizing the adsorbent beds with product hydrogen, and recovering product hydrogen in purities of 99.9% or greater from the beds.

摘要: An adsorption process and system for the selective adsorption of a more readily adsorbable component, such as nitrogen, as from air or other feed gas mixture is carried out using a composite adsorbent bed containing different adsorbent materials positioned in separate zones in which the temperature conditions favor adsorption performance of the particular adsorbent material under applicable processing conditions in each zone. A method for the selection of the adsorbent materials is based on Adsorption Figure of Merit values.

摘要: An improved gas separation PSA process, more particularly for oxygen production, utilizing adsorbents of Type X characterized by high frequency (i.e., cycle times of less than 4 s), bed length to square of mean particle diameter ratio within 200 to 600 mm−1, bed size factor of less than 50 lb/TPDO. The bed length, mean particle size, and cycle time are selected in a range such that axial dispersion becomes an important factor. In this way, low product recovery and high pressure drop (high power consumption) disadvantages often associated with the use of small particles are overcome.
