    摘要: An information processing apparatus such as a personal computer is capable of controlling consumption power of a digital communication line interface circuit or a modem depending on a usage state of the communication line. In one aspect, the information processing apparatus including a digital communication interface circuit connected to a digital line to communicate data, includes a link state detect circuit to ascertain a link state between the interface circuit and the communication line, and a consumption power mode change circuit to change a consumption power mode of the interface circuit depending on the link state ascertained by the detect circuit. In one aspect, a battery-driven hand-held information processing apparatus minimizing the consumption power includes an access detection circuit to monitor an access state of software to a serial interface circuit, a timer circuit to determine that a modem is not accessed for a fixed period of time, a power control circuit to turn power of a modem circuit on and off in accordance with a result from the timer circuit, a circuit to generate a signal which masks a transmission enable signal notifying the serial interface circuit that the modem is unavailable because power of the modem circuit is off, and a mask circuit operating in response to the mask signal.

    摘要: An identifier of a process, which is designed in advance to be executed only before a check point, is recorded on a delay process recording table, while an identifier of a process (check point process) exclusively for picking up a check point is recorded on a delay process recording table. A process queuing unit queues the process recorded on the delay process recording table to a delay executable queue, and queues the other processes to an executable queue. A process selecting unit selects and schedules one of the processes stored in the executable queue. Referring to the check point process recording table, it is determined whether the selected process is a check point process. If it is, all the processes stored in the delay executable queue are scheduled immediately before the check point process. Thus, an influence of delay in processing necessary for securing the matching of the system can be minimized.

    摘要: A method for adjusting current clock counts in a distributed database apparatus is accomplished. Each processor assigns a timestamp to a transaction according to its clock when the transaction is generated, and transaction are executed by accessing the database according to timestamp order. A processor in at least a first one of the computer sites accesses an abort count corresponding to a second computer site; compares an abort count corresponding to the first computer site with the abort count corresponding to the second computer site; and changes the current clock count corresponding to the first computer site to more closely match the current clock count corresponding to the second computer site, at times when the comparison between the abort counts in the first and second computer sites indicates that new transactions have been aborted more frequently in one of the two computer sites.
