    摘要: A vehicle includes a transmission, a motor configured to provide a motor torque to the transmission, and an engine configured to provide an engine torque to the transmission. A torque converter is operably disposed between the transmission and the motor, the engine, or both. The torque converter is configured to at least partially transfer at least one of the motor torque and the engine torque to the transmission in accordance with a plurality of k-factors. The torque converter includes a clutch configured to at least partially engage to change the effective k-factor applied by the torque converter. A control processor is configured to blend the plurality of k-factors and at least partially engage the clutch based on the blended k-factor.

    摘要: An extended-range electric vehicle includes drive wheels, an engine having an output shaft, a planetary gear set having a node driven by the output shaft of the engine when the engine is on, and first and second electric machines. The first electric machine is connected to another node, and operates as a generator when the engine is on. A one-way clutch is connected to the remaining node. The second electric machine is connected to an output side of the one-way clutch, with a shaft connecting the drive wheels to the second electric machine. A controller provides a forward electric-only (EV) mode, a reverse EV mode, power-split mode(s), and series mode(s). The series mode(s) provide a direct mechanical path between the engine and drive wheels, with the one-way clutch overrunning in the forward EV mode. The one-way clutch may be activated passively or by a PRNDL device.

    摘要: A vehicle includes an engine that generates an engine torque and a motor that generates a motor torque. A transmission can receive the engine torque, the motor torque, or both. The transmission includes a first gear set and a second gear set, as well as a first clutch that at least partially engages to transfer torque to the gears in the first gear set and a second clutch that at least partially engages to transfer torque to the gears in the second gear set. A controller can control the engine torque and the motor torque to control a speed of the engine to follow a desired speed profile. The controller can also control the engagement of the first clutch and the second clutch to optimize a desired gear state to minimize system losses.

In one aspect of the invention, an electrical machine has a stator core with a first and second and third plurality of slots. A first set of three-phase windings has a first winding, second winding, and a third winding. A second set of windings also has a first winding, a second winding and a third winding. A third set of windings also has a first winding, a second winding and a third winding. The first winding of the first set of three-phase windings and the first winding of the second set of three-phase windings and the first winding of the third set of three-phase windings are disposed in the first plurality of slots. The second winding of the first set of three-phase windings and the second winding of the second set of three-phase windings and the second winding of the third set of three-phase windings are disposed in the second plurality of slots. The third winding of the first set of three-phase windings and the third winding of the second set of three-phase windings and the third winding of the third set of three-phase windings are disposed in the third plurality of slots. The three sets of windings are grouped into three wye-connected winding connections, which are electrically coupled to each other.

    摘要: A powertrain includes an Electric Torque Converter (ETC) assembly interconnecting a primary power source and a transmission. An ETC clutch connects a clutched ETC input from the ETC assembly to an output of the primary power source. A primary transmission clutch connects a clutched input of the transmission to the output of the primary power source. An ETC output from the ETC assembly is directly connected to a fixed input of the transmission. The ETC assembly includes a planetary gearset interconnecting the clutched ETC input and the ETC output of the ETC assembly. An electric motor is coupled to the planetary gearset and configured to provide a torque thereto. The torque may be directed to either the fixed input of the transmission through the ETC output of the ETC assembly, or to the output of the primary power source through the clutched ETC input of the ETC assembly.
