摘要: A cap for an implantable medical device electrical connector lead assembly and methods of use. A cap for protecting an electrical connector lead assembly of an implantable medical device is disclosed. The cap includes a body defined by a mating surface and a non-mating surface. The mating surface is adapted for electrically insulating engagement with an electrical connector lead assembly of an implantable medical device. The cap includes a body having a mating surface and an electrical network disposed therein. The electrical network includes first and second contacts exposed at the mating surface, a first circuit element, and two conductive pathways connecting the contacts to the circuit element. The body is configured to mate with the electrical connector lead assembly such that each contact conductively engages a corresponding contact of the electrical connector lead assembly when the cap and electrical connector lead assembly are mated.

摘要: An endoluminal prosthesis for deployment in a body which has a first tubular structure for stabilising the prosthesis, the first tubular structure being substantially concentric about a first axis and movable between a compact and an expanded state. The prosthesis also has a second tubular structure for supporting an artificial heart valve, the second tubular structure being substantially concentric about a second axis and moveable between a compact and an expanded state. The first axis and the second axis extend at different angles when the first and second structures are in the compact and/or expanded state. A third structure which is shape and/or length adjustable is positioned between the first and second structures.

An expansible prosthesis envelope (20) is received in a collapsed configuration within the tubular introducer element (12) to be deployed laterally of the introducer element (12) through the opening (16).

摘要: A catheter assembly (10) includes a handle body (12) having a proximal end (14) and a distal end. An introducer carrier (18) is displaceably arranged relative to the handle body (12). An electrode sheath component is arranged at a distal end of the handle body (12), the electrode sheath component comprising at least one pair of limbs interconnected by a bridging portion, at least the bridging portion carrying at least one electrode. An elongate shape forming component (40) is received in a lumen of the electrode sheath component, the shape forming component (40) having at least one predetermined shape formed along its length. An introducer component (22) is carried on the introducer carrier (18) of the handle body (12). The electrode sheath component is received within the introducer component (22) prior to use with at least the bridging portion of the electrode sheath component being extended out of a distal end of the introducer component (22) to be exposed for use. The arrangement is such that movement between at least two of the components relative to each other results in a change of shape being imparted to the exposed bridging portion of the electrode sheath component.

摘要: A multi-purpose FES system includes a multi-function, implantable stimulator for stimulating different sites in a patient's body. The stimulator includes a control unit and a receiving device. The stimulator further has a plurality of bundles of electric leads connected to the control unit, each lead terminating in at least one electrode to provide a plurality of discrete groups of electrodes associated with each site. Each group of electrodes is operable to stimulate its associated site in the patient's body, under the action of stimulation signals from the control unit, the control unit receiving signals from the receiving device. A transmitter is arranged externally of the patient's body for supplying signals transcutaneously to the receiving device of the stimulator. A controller is in communication with the transmitter via a communications interface unit.

摘要: A multi-purpose, functional electrical stimulation (FES) system 10 includes an implantable stimulator unit 12 for stimulating a plurality of different sites in a patient's body 14. A transmitter 20 is arranged externally of the patient's body 14 for supplying signals transcutaneously to the stimulator unit 12. A controller 16 is in communication with the transmitter 20. At least one implantable switching node 26 has an input terminal 30 in electrical communication with the stimulator unit 12 and a plurality of output terminals to each of which one of a further switching node 26 and a stimulating element 24 is connected. The switching node 26 including addressing circuitry 44 for switching at least one output terminal into electrical connection with the input terminal 30 of the switching node 26 in response to a control signal received from the controller 16 via the stimulator unit 12.

摘要: An implantable sensor for monitoring the condition of an organ, such as the bladder, of a recipients' body. The sensor (100) comprises a carrier (102), such as a tubular housing that is attachable to the outer surface of the organ. An impedance-varying means (104), such as a saline solution, is carried by the carrier (102). The impedance-varying means (104) within the carrier varies as the condition of the organ changes to cause in output state of the sensor (100). The sensor (1000) can be used for the purposes of monitoring the filling of the bladder, making bladder volume information to the recipient or another person, and causing an alarm signal to be generated when a preset bladder volume is reached.

摘要: An in-line fluid flow controller (5) for use with a fluid administration set (1) for infusion of fluid into the body of a patient, the administration set comprising a reservoir of fluid connected to a supply line (2) having a discharge orifice; characterized in that the fluid flow controller comprises a housing (11) having a chamber therein, and inlet (13) to and an outlet (14) from said chamber, said housing being adapted to receive therewithin at least one flow restrictor (12) each having an orifice (18) or orifices configured to control the rate of fluid flow therethrough and into the body of a patient such that the fluid is infused into a patient at a predetermined constant flow rate or at a flow rate within predetermined limits via said discharge orifice.
