摘要: A method for ensuring path integrity in an optical switch is provided that essentially eliminates any occurrences of misconnected paths and enables new signal paths to be easily generated and existing paths to be switched. The method is suitable for use in optical switching devices that enable selective connection of optical signals received on a plurality of input fibers to respective output fibers, wherein the optical switching device includes a first array of mirrors disposed in a first mirror plane and a second array of mirrors disposed in a second mirror plane. In accordance with the method, all mirrors are maintained in signal paths so that undesired light is prevented from reaching any of the output fibers.

摘要: A system and method for speech-responsive voice messaging, in which a Speech-Responsive Voice Messaging System (SRVMS) preferably provides a hierarchically-simple speech user interface (UI) that enables subscribers to use speech to specify commands such as mailboxes, passwords, and digits. The SRVMS generates and evaluates candidate results. The SRVMS invokes a speech UI navigation operation or a voice messaging operation according to the outcome of the evaluation of the candidate results. In the preferred embodiment, the SRVMS determines whether the candidate results are good, questionable, or bad; and whether two or more candidate results are ambiguous due to a likelihood that each such result could be a valid command. If the candidate results are questionable or ambiguous, an ambiguity resolution UI prompts the subscriber to confirm whether the best candidate result is what the subscriber intended. In response to repeated speech recognition failures, the SRVMS transfers the subscriber to a Dual Tone Multi Frequency (DTMF) UI. Transfer to the DTMF UI is also performed in response to detection of predetermined DTMF signals issued by the subscriber while the speech UI is in context. The SRVMS provides a logging unit and a reporting unit which operate in parallel with the speech UI, in a manner that is transparent to subscribers. The logging unit directs the selective logging of subscriber utterances, and the reporting unit selectively generates and maintains system performance statistics on multiple detail levels.

摘要: In an embodiment of a wireless network, when a node joins the network and receives a routing advertisement, such a node transmits the routing advertisement to all its neighbors. The node then receives transmission from the neighboring nodes indicating interest in joining the advertised network. If more than a threshold number of neighboring nodes are interested in the advertised route, the newly joining node inserts the route advertisement in a beacon transmission. If there is not a threshold level of interest, the node unicasts only to the neighbors who indicated interest in the advertised network. In an embodiment, the node repeats the above steps on a predetermined time basis (e.g., one per day) in order to determine interest in the advertised route that may have newly arisen.

摘要: A debug circuit for a multi-mode circuit driven by a clock signal, with an input for a clock signal, and a debug signal generator arranged to generate for each of a subset of the modes of the multi-mode circuit a corresponding debug signal based on a clock signal provided at the input. The frequency of debug signals is dependent on the frequency of a clock signal provided at the input, and each debug signal selects its respective mode for a length of time longer than that of each other mode of the multi-mode circuit, or each debug signal selects its respective mode for a length of time shorter than that of each other mode of the multi-mode circuit.

摘要: A system, apparatus, and method are directed to managing multicast routing using a network cluster. A cluster master actively participates in multicast control protocol communications with the cluster neighbors, while non-master member nodes, do not participate in the protocols' operation outside of the cluster. However, each cluster member maintains virtually the same protocol state, such that should the master become unavailable, another cluster member may assume the master role with minimum delay. New members to the cluster are synchronized by receiving initial protocol state information from the master. After the initial protocol state synchronization, cluster members actively monitor the network to acquire new protocol state information. In addition, cluster members exchange protocol state information between themselves that may not be obtainable off the network. Filtering of multicast data packets is performed by each cluster member, to load balance multicast data traffic across the cluster members.
