A process for producing methanol is described in which a hydrocarbon is steam reformed in a reforming zone, and during the reforming stage, of a cyclic steam reformer having a reforming stage and a regeneration stage, the steam reforming being conducted under conditions effective to produce a first effluent stream containing synthesis gas. Fuel and an oxygen-containing gas are combusted in the regeneration stage of the reformer so as to reheat the reforming zone to a temperature sufficient for the reforming stage and generate a flue gas. At least part of the first effluent stream is contacted with a methanol synthesis catalyst under conditions effective to convert synthesis gas to methanol and form a methanol-containing stream and a tail gas stream comprising unreacted carbon monoxide and hydrogen. At least part of the tail gas stream is recycled as fuel for the regeneration stage of the cyclic steam reformer.

This invention relates to a process to polymerize olefins comprising contacting propylene, at a temperature of 65° C. to 150° C. and a pressure of 1.72 to 34.5 MPa, with: 1) a catalyst system comprising one or more activators and one or more nonmetallocene metal-centered, heteroaryl ligand catalyst compounds, where the metal is chosen from the Group 4, 5, 6, the lanthanide series, or the actinide series of the Periodic Table of the Elements, 2) optionally one or more comonomers selected from ethylene and C4 to C12 olefins, 3) diluent or solvent, and 4) optionally scavenger, wherein: a) the olefin monomers and any comonomers are present in the polymerization system at 30 wt % or more, b) the propylene is present in the feed at 80 wt % or more, c) the polymerization occurs at a temperature above the solid-fluid phase transition temperature of the polymerization system and a pressure greater than 1 MPa below the cloud point pressure of the polymerization system, and d) the polymerization occurs: (1) at a temperature below the critical temperature of the polymerization system, or (preferably and) (2) at a pressure below the critical pressure of the polymerization system.

This invention is directed to a process of making a methanol product using a slurry bubble reactor. The reactor is operated in the liquid phase, with catalyst particles being suspended in the liquid. The invention provides for efficient use of heat and recovery of product by feeding cool syngas into the reactor, while maintaining a high degree of backmixing within the reactor. Complex cooling equipment is not required in the reaction process.

This invention provides processes for transporting catalyst, preferably in an oxygenate to olefins reaction system. In one embodiment, an oxygenate contacts molecular sieve catalyst particles in a reactor under conditions effective to form an effluent stream comprising light olefins and forming coked catalyst particles. At least a portion of the coked catalyst particles are transported from the reactor or a device associated therewith to a catalyst regenerator through a conduit in a fluidized manner with a fluidizing medium comprising air and steam. At least a portion of the coked catalyst particles are regenerated in the catalyst regenerator to form regenerated catalyst particles, which are ultimately directed back to the reactor.

The reproducible sample is obtained by receiving solid particles into a collection system that includes a sheltered volume. Solid particles that settle outside of the sheltered volume are purged from the collection system. The remaining solid particles inside the sheltered volume correspond to the reproducible sample.
