摘要: Disclosed is a resistance-measurement apparatus, including: multiple measurement chambers for holding powdery materials; multiple first electrodes that press the respective powder materials in the measurement chambers; at least one second electrode that faces the first electrodes and that presses the powdery materials; and a measuring device that measures a resistance between the first electrodes and the at least one second electrode. Further disclosed is a resistance-measurement method, including: (i) placing at least one powdery material between a number N of first electrodes and at least one second electrode, and pressing the at least one powdery material therebetween; (ii) measuring an impedance between the number N of the first electrodes and the at least one second electrode; and (iii) measuring an impedance between a number M of the first electrodes and the at least one second electrode, wherein the number N is different from the number M.

摘要: A metering apparatus including a scale on which a metering head is disposed in such a manner that the scale measures the weight of the metering head, and a metering tool for taking up and dispensing substance, attached to the metering head. The metering tool is configured as a glass tubule having a glass punch slidably disposed therein, forming a seal. The metering head is provided with a first gripping tool for clamping the glass tubule in place and with a second gripping tool for clamping the glass punch in place. The metering head furthermore has a raising and lowering device for raising and lowering the second gripping tool relative to the first gripping tool, such that the glass punch can be raised and lowered in the glass tubule of the metering tool.

The method also includes detecting the modified electromagnetic radiation with a detector, and producing an output signal correlated to a value for the characteristic of the bulk material or powder, and receiving and processing the output signal with a signal processor to yield a value for the characteristic of the bulk material or powder. Also, the method includes transmitting a message flagging the storage bin when it is determined that the bulk material or powder is not suitable for continued storage. The bulk material or powder includes a dry cement or a dry cement component.

摘要: An apparatus and method for measuring molecular diffusivity in porous powders or minerals, e.g., the microporous synthetic minerals used for gas separation and chemical catalysis, were invented that allows a varying pressure in the gas around the powder during the measurement. This obviates the need for the pressure to be constant and the attendant complicated component parts. A mass balance model equation of the sample cell with the diffusivity as an adjustable parameter is used to deduce the sample cell pressure change versus time (uptake curve) until the equilibration of gas diffusion into the powder. A numerical analysis method is used to solve the mathematical model to compute a simulated uptake curve. Curve fitting of the simulated and measured uptake curves is used to optimize the diffusivity parameter, which gives the measured diffusivity. The apparatus and method are simple, easy to use, and automation is also simple.

摘要: The invention provides an apparatus and method for testing powder properties. The apparatus has a sample holder with a planar membrane supported therein. The sample holder is mounted in a housing in a manner to allow relatively free vibrations. A quantity of powder or powder blend is placed on the membrane and the housing and sample holder are subjected to vibration, causing segregation. The powder is transferred to a split tablet die for compaction and the compacted tablets are tested for component uniformity.

The sampler has a body positioned to receive grain from a grain flow path. A primary auger positioned within the body has a shaft and a fin configured to lift and propel a portion of the grain up to and through a sampling opening. A sensor assembly operatively connected to the body and in communication with the sampling opening is configured to receive the portion of grain indicate the moisture content of the portion of grain.

In, another preferred embodiment, a method includes crushing 100-200 particles of a brittle particulate material for statistical analysis of its mechanical property. Un yet another preferred embodiment, a method includes analyzing the results of single particle crush of a brittle particulate material with Weibull distribution and using the product of the Weibull modulus and characteristic property as a unified measure of the mechanical property of the brittle particulate material.
