An operational amplifier circuit is constituted by first and second inverted amplifier circuits (A1, A2) that receive first and second input signals, a third inverted amplifier circuit (A3) that receives an estimated common-mode output signal and an output signal from the first inverted amplifier circuit and outputs first and second output signals, a fourth inverted amplifier circuit (A4) that receives the estimated common-mode output signal and an output signal from the second inverted amplifier circuit and outputs third and fourth output signals, where the estimated common-mode output signal is generated by adding the second output signal and the fourth output signal, and first and second non-inverted amplifier circuits (A5, A6) that receive the estimated common-mode output signal and feed it back to the first and second inverted amplifier circuits.

In a master block, the exponential conversion characteristic is determined on the basis of a common mode reference voltage and a reference voltage. In a slave block, the exponential conversion characteristic determined with the master block is used to create a control voltage and a gain control signal on the basis of a common mode reference voltage and a reference voltage. For example, a gain of the variable gain amplifier is controlled by using this gain control signal.

A frequency converter including a mixer circuit which inputs a local oscillation signal and a radio-frequency input signal modulated for communication of information, and performs frequency conversion. A buffer amplifier is higher than a desired signal frequency band, and has a low-pass passage characteristic of cut-off frequency lower than an adjacent channel carrier frequency.

A balanced amplifier includes first and second multi-input single-ended output differential amplifiers having matched characteristics and a feedback circuit. The feedback circuit connects differential input terminals and output terminals of the first and second multi-input single-ended output differential amplifiers so that all of the differential input terminals of the first and second multi-input single-ended output differential amplifiers are virtually shorted.

A current mirror circuit comprises a first current-to-voltage converter for inputting an input current, a second current-to-voltage converter, a first transistor, the collector or drain of which outputs an output current, and the emitter or source of which is connected to the second current-to-voltage converter, and a control unit for controlling a control electrode of the first transistor. The control unit refers a voltage current-to-voltage converted by the first and second current-to-voltage converters to control the first transistor so that currents flow from the control unit to the first and second current-to-voltage converters at a predetermined ratio.

A variable-gain amplifier circuit has an offset correcting function by which the fluctuation of offset due to the switching of a gain is decreased. In an offset detection mode, an input offset voltage of the variable-gain amplifier circuit is inputted to an offset retaining section, and in a signal amplifying mode, the offset is corrected by subtracting the output of the offset retaining section from an input signal by means of an input section of the variable-gain amplifier circuit. In addition, the variable-gain amplifier circuit can be applied to a radio receiver. The offset produced in a baseband section of a receiver is corrected by the offset correcting function of the variable-gain amplifier circuit, so as to prevent the quality of communication from being deteriorated.
