摘要: A conventional respiratory nebulizer has an emergency medication dose storage system delivering the stored medication dose directly to the nebulizing chamber with a single impulse of manual force to a simple mechanical delivery system, thereby making the nebulizer useable in two steps: (a) opening the medication capsule with a simple opening action; and (b) inhaling the nebulized medication. The nebulizer can be operated without disassembling the nebulizer housing so as to expose the nebulizing chamber and without manually opening the liquid medication container and, without spillage and without manual pouring of the liquid medication directly into the nebulizing chamber, and without reassembling the nebulizer housing before positioning the inhaler mouthpiece in the mouth so as to inhale the nebulized medication. The delivery system includes a pressure burstable seal at one end of the capsule, which is burst by the application of force against the opposite end of the capsule.

摘要: A method of treating a disorder of a patient, such as a neurological disorder, is provided. The method comprises intravascularly delivering at least one of a stimulation lead and a sensing lead within the head of the patient. For example, one or both of the leads can be delivered into the patient's head via the circulatory system (e.g., vein or artery) or the ventricular system (e.g., through the intrathecal space of the spine). The method further comprises sensing a physiological event associated with the disorder (e.g., physiological electrical activity, a blood parameter, or intracranial pressure) using the sensing lead, and stimulating neural tissue with the stimulation lead in response to the sensed physiological event.

摘要: A medical device delivery system comprises a catheter having a catheter shaft with a proximal region and a distal region. The catheter shaft has a pull wire lumen therein. An expandable medical device is disposed about medical device receiving region of the catheter shaft. The expandable medical device has a reduced configuration and an expanded configuration. The system further comprises a retractable retaining wire, at least a portion of which is coiled about the expandable medical device and retains the expandable medical device in the reduced configuration. One end of the retractable retaining wire terminates in a pull-wire. The pull-wire extends into the pull-wire lumen to the proximal region of the catheter shaft.

摘要: An apparatus for accessing a site within a body includes a cannula and an elongate member. The cannula has a proximal end, a distal end, and a lumen extending therebetween. The elongate member has a distal end configured for insertion into the lumen, wherein the distal end of the elongate member is attachable to and releasable from the distal end of the cannula. A method for accessing a site within a body includes inserting a distal end of an elongate member into a lumen of a cannula, detachably attaching the distal end of the elongate member to the cannula, and steering a distal end of the cannula to a desired site using the elongate member.
