摘要: The invention relates to a method and an arrangement for reducing power consumption of a receiver in a mobile communication network comprising a sender transmitting packet data on a downlink channel to one or more receivers over a radio interface. Inactive time instants and listening time instants are defined according to provided rules. The receiver is arranged to listen for information from the sender during the listening time instants and to sleep during the inactive time instants. Thus, less power will be consumed during the inactive time instants.

摘要: A radio base station does not broadcast service information without a request from a mobile radio terminal. When a mobile radio enters or approaches a coverage area of the base station, it transmits a service information request in or near the radio coverage area. The service information is associated with the radio coverage area. When the base station receives the request for service information from the mobile radio, the base station then selectively transmits the service information to the mobile radio, either immediately or after some exchange between the mobile radio and the base station. The service information allows the mobile radio to determine whether the mobile terminal is permitted to obtain service from the radio base station. The base station does not usually broadcast service information in the radio coverage area independently of a request from a mobile radio thereby conserving resources and reducing interference.

摘要: In a cellular telecommunications system or network, tags are associated with one or more system control parameters. For example, a given tag value may be indicative of particular values for one or more system information parameters. In each cell, a base station (BS) transmits or broadcasts currently valid tag values. System information blocks including the system information parameters themselves (which correspond to particular tag(s)) are also broadcast by base stations. A mobile station receiving a valid tag value from a base station determines whether or not it has to read system information block(s) corresponding to that tag value depending upon whether the base station has already stored or cached such block(s) corresponding to the tag value. As will be appreciated by those skilled in the art, different embodiments of the instant invention may result in the mobile station not having to re-read identical system information each time it changes cells, or while moving in the same cell. This may conserve radio resources and reduce battery consumption, thereby improving standby time of the mobile station.

摘要: Devices and methods are provided for adapting the allocating of random access resources to user equipments of a cell served by a base station. A method in a base station where each RA preamble group maps or corresponds to an uplink allocation size comprises receiving a RA preamble from a UE in a cell served by the base station, the preamble indicating a requested resource allocation size for uplink transmission of UE data. Radio resource usage in the cell is monitored and a mapping between groups of RA preambles and uplink allocation sizes configured for the cell is adapted based on the monitored usage of radio resources. UEs or MTC devices are thus provided with an efficient means to have their UL allocation needs met for transmission of user data in conjunction with the Random Access procedure.

摘要: The present invention presents methods providing for system resource-efficient radio resource allocation of mobile terminals. The methods may include generating a first scheduling message including first scheduling information indicative of at least a first radio resource allocated to a first mobile terminal. The methods may also include generating a second scheduling message including second scheduling information, which, when combined with said first scheduling information, is indicative of a second radio resource allocated to a second mobile terminal. The methods may further include transmitting said first scheduling message to said first and second mobile terminals using a first robustness level, and transmitting said second scheduling message to said second mobile terminal using a second robustness level. Related network nodes and mobile terminals are also provided.

A method in a base station (102, 204, 306, 600) where each RA preamble group maps or corresponds to an uplink allocation size, comprises receiving a RA preamble from a UE in a cell served by the base station, the preamble indicating a requested resource allocation size for uplink transmission of UE data. Radio resource usage (S-348, 402) in the cell is monitored and a mapping between groups of RA preambles and uplink allocation sizes (S-356, 412) configured for the cell is adapted based on the monitored usage of radio resources. UEs or MTC devices are thus provided with an efficient means to have their UL allocation needs for transmission of user data in conjunction with step 3 of the Random Access procedure met.

摘要: A method in a communication device (120) for reducing power consumption in the communication device (120) is provided. The communication device (120) and a base station (110) are comprised in a cellular communications network (100). The communication device obtains information about an antenna beam (117) of the base station (110). The antenna beam (117) will be perceived by the communication device (120) in time periods. The information relates to when in time a time period starts and the duration of the time period. When being out of the time period, the communication device refrains from attempting to receive or transmit data using the antenna beam (117). During the refraining no power is consumed for attempting to receive or transmit data using the antenna beam (117).
