摘要: An electron emitter includes an emitter section having a plate shape, a cathode electrode formed on a front surface of the emitter section, and an anode electrode formed on a back surface of the emitter section. A gap is formed between an outer peripheral portion of the cathode electrode and the front surface of the emitter section. The front surface of the emitter section contacts a lower surface of the outer peripheral portion to form a base end as a triple junction. The gap expands from the base end toward a tip end of the outer peripheral portion.

摘要: An actuator having a fixed portion, a vibrating portion supported on the fixed portion so as to undergo vibrations, and an actuating portion including a first and a second electrodes formed on both sides or one side of a deformable layer is provided. The actuator generates a displacement motion by holding the offset electric potential of the first electrode at a desired valve and variable-controlling an electric potential of the second electrode. A cathode for emitting electrons is formed on the actuator. The current controlling element changes the position of the cathode with respect to the plate by the displacement motion of the actuator obtained by changing an electric potential difference of the second electrode to the offset electric potential, and adjusts the offset position of the cathode according to the offset electric potential, to adjust a control range of a current value taken out of the plate.

摘要: Assuming that a display period for one image is one field, a light source turn on period and a light source turn off period are set for the one field. An overall bending displacement period for making bending displacement of all actuator elements is set within the light source turn off period. A gradational display period for performing substantial gradational display and a reset period for resetting the bending displacement of all of the actuator elements are set within the light source turn on period. Subfields of a number corresponding to the maximum gradation level are set within the gradational display period. Timing control is performed so that all row selection is completed within each of the subfields. Accordingly, the gradation level is advantageously extended when a relationship of Tr>>Tf is given between a light-emitting rising time Tr of the picture element and a quenching falling time Tf of the picture element.

摘要: Defect of an acrylic plate is detected such that a light beam, which dominantly includes non-parallel rays not parallel to a principal surface of the acrylic plate, is introduced through a side surface formed substantially perpendicularly to the principal surface of the acrylic plate. In this arrangement, transmitted light, which is obtained through the principal surface of the acrylic plate on the basis of the defect, is detected by using any one of or both of a light-receiving device with its light-receiving surface arranged and directed substantially in parallel to the principal surface of the acrylic plate and a light-receiving device with its light-receiving surface arranged and directed substantially perpendicularly to the principal surface of the acrylic plate. Thus, the defect of the acrylic plate is quantitatively detected by measuring the amount of light of the transmitted light. Accordingly, an identical optical system can be used to perform the detection of, for example, the surface scratch of the acrylic plate as well as the bubble and the foreign matter in the acrylic plate simultaneously with the detection of the defect such as the bend and the waviness of the acrylic plate itself.

摘要: A microdevice has an electron emitter including a memory for accumulating electric charges corresponding to an input voltage, for emitting electrons corresponding to the electric charges accumulated in said memory; and an amplifier connected to a power supply and including a collector electrode for capturing the electrons emitted from the electron emitter. The atmosphere between at least the electron emitter and the collector electrode is a vacuum. When the electrons emitted from the electron emitter are captured by the collector electrode of the amplifier, a collector current flows between the collector electrode and the electron emitter to amplify the input voltage.
