Abstract: An electrical thermometer comprises a metallic tip and a main body equipped with a probe portion. The front end of the probe portion is fitted into the opening of the metallic tip, which resembles a shell with a blunt end. The probe portion is formed on the main body. A thermal sensor, which is immersed and fixed in thermally conductive glue, is positioned inside the front inner end of the metallic tip. The remaining space within the metallic tip is filled up with a good thermally insulator. The metallic tip can be rapidly heated up with body temperature whenever touched, and the heat will be transferred to the thermal sensor via the thermally conductive glue. In additional, the thermally insulator can stop succeeding heat transfer.

Abstract: A hair dryer comprises a fan, a heater, a temperature sensor, and a controller. The heater is disposed at the airflow output end of the fan and used to heat the airflow output by the fan. The temperature sensor is pointed to the hair, receiving the infrared light radiated by the hair to obtain the temperature of the hair, determining the dryness of the hair according to at least one of the temperature of the hair and the rate of temperature variation of the hair, and outputting a corresponding control signal. The controller is electrically connected with the fan, the heater and the temperature sensor, and controlling at least one of the rotation speed of the fan and the heating power of the heater according to the control signal. The above-mentioned hair dryer not only can prevent from hair overheating and hair damage but also can shorten the time for drying hair.

Abstract: An ultrasonic biometric sensor comprises a detection chip. The detection chip includes a substrate, an ultrasonic transducer array and a control circuit. The ultrasonic transducer array is arranged on the substrate, including a plurality of arrayed piezoelectric elements. Each piezoelectric element is disposed on a floating membrane. The floating membrane is suspended in the opening side of a cavity by at least one support arm extending transversely. The control circuit is also arranged on the substrate and electrically connected with each piezoelectric element through the support arm to control the ultrasonic transducer array to generate an ultrasonic signal and read the reflected ultrasonic signal received by the ultrasonic transducer array. The ultrasonic biometric sensor is easy to fabricate and has a high yield.

Abstract: A probe cover assembly for covering and protecting the elongated probe of a tympanic thermometer. The probe cover includes an inner member, an outer member, and an intermediate transparent membrane. The inner member is mounted around the probe and includes an inner window in alignment with a distal opening of the probe and an inner flange having a projection. The outer member, closely mounted on the outer circumference of the inner member, includes an outer window in alignment with the inner window of the inner member, an outer flange, and a barb having a grip portion for biasing the inner flange of the inner member to push the projection against the outer flange of the outer member when the probe cover is in an assembled state. The intermediate transparent membrane, sandwiched between the outer member and the inner member, is gripped by the projection of the inner member and the outer flange of the outer member and is tightly stretched to cover the inner window of the inner member.

Abstract: An absolute radiation thermometer capable of evaluating the absolute value of infrared radiation power emitted from a target and received by a radiation sensor by means of electrical calibration, and calculating the temperature of the target basing on the responsive signal generated in the radiation sensor. To solve "Microphonic" problem, two identical sensors connected in parallel with the polarized orientations of their pyroelectric layers being in opposite directions so as to cancel the piezoelectric signals generated in the two sensors are used. Further, by using a floating power supply, which is isolated from the system power supply of the thermometer, for performing electrical heating, power supply noise can be greatly reduced.

Abstract: An infrared thermopile sensor includes a silicon cover having an infrared lens, an infrared sensing chip having duo-thermopile sensing elements, and a microcontroller chip calculating a temperature of an object. The components are in a stacked 3D package to decrease the size of the infrared thermopile sensor. The infrared sensing chip and the microcontroller chip have metal layers to shield the thermal radiation. To measure object temperature accurately under acute change in environmental temperature, this disclosure uses the duo-thermopile sensing elements, that one is the active unit for measuring the object temperature and another one is the dummy unit for compensating the effect from the package structure.
