    摘要: An ultrasound catheter system and a method for operating an ultrasonic catheter at a treatment site within a patient's vasculature or tissue are disclosed. The ultrasound catheter system comprises a catheter having at least one ultrasonic element and a control system configured to generate power parameters that drive the at least one ultrasonic element to generate ultrasonic energy. The control system is configured to vary at least one of the power parameters and at least one physiological parameter by repeatedly cycling the power parameter and the physiological parameter through two set of values.

    摘要: A dual use ultrasonic transducer device for combined sensing and power transmission, comprises a first piezoelectric transducer sized for placement in a body lumen; a power unit enabling an ultrasonic power beam for tissue ablation in a tissue ablation region; and a sensing unit enabling an ultrasonic sensing beam for sensing at said tissue ablation region. In one example, a single piezoelectric surface is electrically connected to a mounting; and the mounting provides a first region of the piezoelectric surface with a first relatively high level of damping and a second region of said piezoelectric surface with a second relatively low level of damping, thereby to enable sensing from said first region and power transmission from said second region. Changes in efficiency of the transducer or the treatment during use may be inferred from changes in the impulse response or impedance or changes in the temperature of liquids that have flowed past the transducer.

    摘要: A method of using ultrasound waves that are focused at a specific location in a medium is provided to cause localized production of bubbles at that location and to control the production, and the cavitational and heating effects that take place there. Production and control are accomplished by interference-specific waveforms at the focal point, which are not produced at other locations. Preferably, the region within the focal zone of all the transducers in which the specific waveform develops at significant intensities are very small. The method, and a system that performs the method, can be used to perform a variety of therapeutic procedures. Typical of such procedures is occlusion of varicose veins.

    摘要: Various methods and devices are provided for cutting tissue using a high pressure fluid jet. In one exemplary embodiment, a high pressure fluid jet delivery device is provided having a nozzle adapted to direct fluid to a tissue site. A heating element is disposed on the nozzle and is adapted to heat fluid surrounding a high pressure fluid jet flowing from the nozzle to form at least one vapor bubble. The vapor bubble can reduce the interaction between the high pressure fluid jet and the fluid surrounding the high pressure fluid jet.
