摘要: A method and apparatus to produce decorative mouldings, wall panel sections and columns, which are widely used in the construction industry. The method is a sequence of advancing a core, constructed from preformed expanded polystyrene (EPS), in a straight horizontal plane, with restraining devices preventing lateral and vertical movements, through a coating chamber. The coating chamber is filled with a thick liquid stucco or plaster or cement-like mixture and imparts a layer of the coating on the preformed core. The thickness of the coating layer is controlled with templates having an opening correspondingly larger than the core size and with the desired decorative profile. The apparatus can be configured to apply the coating on all sides of the core. In the case of a decorative moulding, the coating application can be limited to the exposed decorative surfaces only.

摘要: A bar coating method includes the steps of feeding a coating solution to a space defined by a rotatable bar, a supporting block adapted for supporting the bar, formed with a slit through which the coating solution is fed at an upstream portion of the bar and detachably mounted on a base plate vertically movable and held at a coating position thereof, and a pair of side plates disposed on the opposite sides of the supporting block with respect to a widthwise direction of a flexible support to be coated with a coating solution through the slit, thereby forming a liquid pool, transferring the coating solution forming the liquid pool onto a surface of the flexible support while guiding the flexible support by an upstream guide roller disposed upstream of the bar and a downstream guide roller disposed downstream of the bar, metering an amount of the coating solution transferred onto the flexible support, and forming a coating layer on the flexible support, and the bar coating method further includes the steps of gradually elevating the base plate from a retracted position thereof below the coating position thereof to the coating position thereof when starting a coating operation, while the bar is held stationary. According to this bar coating method, a coating layer having a desired thickness can be formed on the flexible support using a bar coating apparatus which can be made at low cost.

摘要: The present invention includes a device and a method of applying a coating to a web. The preferred device comprises a feed nozzle coupled to a stiffener coupled to a spring coupled to a position/force adjuster. The feed nozzle comprises a fluid reservoir, a feed pipe, a metering surface, end seals and a back seal. The stiffener spring, as the frame deflects and polymer covered rolls deform, permits the rotation of the feed nozzle so a proper geometry is maintained, permitting increased control and a wider film thickness control range for a specific nozzle shape. This device permits greater film thickness control, ability to process at much higher speeds than currently achievable, and a wider range of film thickness. This device permits coatings to be applied at much wider ranges of rheological characteristics. Coatings can be applied at higher percent solids with improved characteristics. Multiple feed nozzles provide rapid product changeover for greater equipment utilization and higher productivity.

摘要: In a coating method, a precoating layer is applied to one surface of a web W laid between a plurality of web guide rollers GR while a leading end surface of an extrusion-type head portion EX is pressed against the one surface of the web. Accordingly, entrained air increasing as the transferring speed of the web becomes higher could be prevented from entering a coating point on a doctor edge surface near an outlet of a slot by the meniscus of coating liquid formed in a slight gap between the front edge surface of the extrusion-type head portion and the one surface of the web approaching there. As a result, the precoating layer having an excessive amount can be applied stably without turbulence at the coating point caused by the entrained air. Further, coating can be done stably in the rod portion by setting the thickness of the precoating layer for a final coating layer and a virtual coating layer.

摘要: A coating apparatus comprising a forward bar, a liquid feed passage and a metering device for a coating liquid. The forward bar rotates about its axis in the same direction as the traveling direction of a continuously traveling band-shaped web while touching the web. When coating the web with the coating liquid, the liquid feed passage feeds the coating liquid to an area between the upstream side of the forward bar and the web with respect to the traveling direction of the web. The metering device is arranged on the downstream side of the forward bar for metering the coating liquid to a predetermined coating thickness as applied to the web by the forward bar.

摘要: An improved short dwell type coater and method are provided. The coater can coat a web directly or a moving roll surface as in a film coater or size press. The flow path in the coater includes a flow modifier shaped to have the introduced coating first turn upstream relative to the web or roll surface, then turn across a curved surface toward the web or roll and around the flow modifier. The flow then converges toward the top of the flow modifier and passes the tip of the flow modifier. Some flow remains on the web or roll and is subsequently doctored, while most is turned away from the web or roll and merged with the incoming flow. A gap filled with coating overflow provides a liquid seal. This coater and method use coating, reduce vortices and streaking, and can operate at higher speeds.
