Abstract:
An apparatus and method for producing a coated analytic substrate using a compact and portable automated instrument located in the laboratory setting at the point of use which can consistently produce one or a plurality of coated analytic substrates “on demand” for using the analytic substrate immediately after coating, preferably without a step of rinsing the coated analytic substrate before use. The apparatus preferably uses applicator cartridges having a reservoir containing the coating compositions used to form the coatings. Preferably the cartridges are removable and interchangeable to facilitate the production of individual analytic substrates having different coatings or different coating patterns. These coated analytic substrates have superior specimen adhesion characteristics due to the improved quality of the coatings applied by the coating apparatus and due to the quickness with which the coated analytic substrates can be used in the lab after production.
Abstract:
A specimen processing system is capable of processing specimens carried on slides. The specimen processing system can sequentially deliver slides and opposables to specimen processing stations. The specimen processing stations can use the opposables to apply a series of liquids to the specimens. The applied liquid can be moved along the slide using capillary action while the specimen processing stations control the processing temperatures. The applied liquid can be in a fluid-carrying gap. The opposable can contact the slide to vary a cross section of the fluid-carrying gap.

Abstract:
A thickness adjustment device for thin-film coating is revealed. The thickness adjustment device for thin-film coating includes a coating device, a support set, and a thickness adjustment unit. The coating device consists of a work piece conveyor that delivers a work piece, and a material supply unit that carries a coating material onto a surface of the work piece to form a film. The support set is connected to the coating device while the thickness adjustment unit is inserted through and mounted on the support set. The thickness adjustment unit includes a scrape part disposed correspondingly to the work piece and used for applying coating material to form the film. The thickness of the film is adjusted according to a controlling force or torque of the thickness adjustment unit that presses downward. Thus the film is coated on the work piece evenly and the film coating quality is increased.
Abstract:
A dosing device for the application of a coating mix (6) onto a running web, in particular a paper or paperboard web (1), which device comprises a rod (8) that is supported revolvingly over its entire length in a rod cradle (12), and a pressing device (13) acting on the rod cradle and producing a pressure of the rod onto the web (1) and onto the holding-on device (2, 17, 15) of the web, the rod (8) being provided with a wear resistant surface coating (15) with a hardness of about 10 to about 100 according to Shore A. The invention also relates to methods of using said rod, and to said revolving rod.
Abstract:
Device for applying a protective material on one edge of a part, includes a body equipped with elements for applying the protective material on the edge, elements for calibrating the protective material in terms of height after application, at least one stop to position the body relative to the edge and elements for calibrating the edges of the protective material including two smoothing plates that rest respectively against the right and the left surfaces of the part adjacent to the edge, at least one of the two smoothing plates being movable relative to the other smoothing plate. The body includes at least one arm that supports a smoothing plate and pivots relative to the body around an axis of rotation so as to regulate the spacing between the two smoothing plates and return elements that tend to make the arm pivot so as to bring the smoothing plates close together.
