An uncoiling, blanking and forming method includes the steps of: 1) uncoiling a steel coil, wherein a steel strip uncoiled from the steel coil is cleaned and straightened and is fed by a pinch roller to a blanking region; 2) laser blanking, wherein the steel coil enters the blanking region, is cut by a laser cutting head by way of laser blanking to form sheets with a required shape, with waste materials falling down and being conveyed to the outside; 3) outputting the sheets, wherein the sheets pass over a magnetic telescopic belt conveyor, and then carried by means of a manipulator or a robot to a stamping process; 4) stamping forming, wherein the sheets are stamped to form workpieces; and 5) checking, wherein the workpieces are checked and put in storage. The present invention can achieve joining-up in series of a blanking line and a stamping forming line and realize matching therebetween, and can reduce intermediate steps such as stacking, packing, transportation, positioning, unpacking, carrying, and centring of sheets and stamping-formed workpieces, and also can reduce the room required for transfer, simplify the work flow and joins up procedures in series, to directly machine a material coil by laser blanking to form formed parts.

The frame for the conveyor belt mounts an array of permanent magnets that exert a magnetic pick-up force through the lower run of the belt into the steel blank. The conveyor frame is floatably suspended to follow the upper die, while being downwardly deflected by the action of a stripper pad carried by the upper die, such that the blank is dislodged from the upper die and then transported out of the space between the two dies.

The belt is mounted about a pair of spaced-apart cylindrical drums (22,24), at least one of which is rotatably driven. The drive holes are engaged by drive pins (46) extending outwardly from the drive drum (22). Rotation of the drive drum causes the pins to engage the drive holes and advance the belt with the drum. Each drive hole has a hub (58) which is shaped to conform generally to a tapered and contoured edge (48) of a drive pin. At least a portion of the hub protrudes out of the planar surface (56) of the belt, and the pin edge and the lower surface (62) of the hub are mutually shaped to define rolling contact therebetween with no contact between the pin edge and the inner edge (54) of the drive hole.

The device according to the invention for ejecting sheet metal blanks from a processing station or for any transport of such sheet metal blanks has ejector dogs mounted on a transport conveyor, which bump the trailing edge (trailing in the ejection direction (A)) to eject the blanks. These ejector dogs are arranged so that upon impact on the blank edge they are shifted and/or tilted in a damped manner, and with absorption of energy, with respect to the transport conveyor, in the opposite direction to the ejection direction, thus reducing the forces acting on the edge of the blank. As transport conveyor, the preferred embodiment has a toothed belt which is elastically deformed and deflected from its path upon impact of the dog on the blank edge, so that the belt itself acts as damper and as return spring for the dog.

An indexing conveyor apparatus is driven with respect to a press having a reciprocal ram and bolster plate. An elongated conveyor is connectible to the press for moving material with respect to the press. The conveyor includes an endless conveyor belt disposed about a drive pulley at one end and an idler roller at an opposite end. A flexible member is connectible between the conveyor and the reciprocal ram for converting reciprocating movement of the ram into indexing movement of the endless conveyor belt through the drive pulley. The flexible member preferably includes a webbing material wound about a spool. The spool is spring biased to rewind the webbing on the spool while the ram is driven toward the bolster plate. As the ram is moved away from the bolster plate, the spool acting through a clutch drives the drive pulley to index the endless conveyor belt.

In a work table apparatus for a plate material processing machine, a group of work supporting belts each extending in a work feed direction and divided in the direction perpendicular to the work feed direction are arranged so as to form a work table surface separated into front and rear support portions on both sides of a plate material processing section, and the work supporting belts are driven in the work feed direction in synchronism with the movement of the plate material to be processed. Therefore, no relative displacement is produced between the work support portions of the work supporting belts and the plate material to be processed. Thus, punched products of small size can be supported securely without damaging the microjoint portions of the processed products, scratching the plate material, and producing sound noise. Further, since the work support portions can be lowered selectively from the work pass line, downward projecting portions can be formed in the plate material and further the downward formed projecting portions can be supported by the lowered work support portions, thus preventing the downward deflection of the processed material. Further, since the front and rear side work support portions can be moved or urged horizontally toward each other, it is possible to effectively support the plate material by reducing as much as possible the area at which the plate material is not supported by the belts.

An end discharge system is disclosed for quickly removing blanked and formed end closures from a forming press, the end discharge system including rotating overhead belts mounted closely adjacent the press tooling, and operable to receive air-blasted or otherwise-ejected pre-curled end closures from the forming tooling and then rapidly draw the discharged end underneath the belt along a guide track in a discharge plate away from the tooling area, for subsequent delivery to associated cross conveyors or other end collection equipment. The belt discharge apparatus allows the container ends to be quickly deposited in a uniform, consistently spaced line or pattern upon the associated cross conveyors, all without any substantial damage to the ends and any coated surfaces thereon.

A conveyor belt and drive structure are disclosed for use with a conversion press in which an upper level of an endless conveyor belt is positioned between upper and lower tooling in the press. The conveyor belt includes a plurality of transversely and longitudinally spaced shell-receiving carrier apertures. The shell-receiving apertures are arranged in longitudinally oriented offset lanes lengthwise of the belt for receiving and conveying shells between the tooling of the press. The conveyor belt is driven in stepped fashion by a drive drum having a plurality of circumferentially spaced outwardly extending pins and the conveyor belt is provided with pin receiving holes for engagement by the drive pins. The pin receiving holes are arranged in lanes parallel to the lanes of carrier apertures, either outside of or between those lanes, and the drive holes are spaced from each other a distance at least twice the longitudinal spacing between adjacent carrier apertures. This provides an optimum number of drive holes and places them in the approximate center of regions of the belt where the drive holes are surrounded by the greatest possible width of material.

A can end manufacturing apparatus including an endless belt (1) having spaced apertures (12) for supporting the can ends (C) through the various stages of manufacture, said belt (1) being supported by spring-loaded travel rails (2, 3) arranged in guide slots (4) formed in longitudinally spaced supporting pillars (5) arranged on either side of a die station chamber (6) within which several die stations (7, 8, 9) and a sealant application station (10) are arranged. During each manufacturing operation, the transfer belt (1) is moved vertically so that each can end (C) is brought into engagement with the die stations (7, 8, 9) and the sealant application station (10). During this vertical movement, the atmosphere within the die station chamber (6) is alternatively compressed and rarefied. However, since the supporting pillars (5) for the travel rails (2, 3) are longitudinally spaced, the atmosphere within the die station chamber (6) is able to be adequately vented through said spaces (16) and under the travel rails ( 2, 3). In this way the disturbance of the atmosphere within the die station chamber (6) is substantially reduced and spatter of sealant during the sealant application stage is significantly reduced.
