Abstract: A securing device is provided comprised of a reactive fiber component and at least one of a terminating fiber component and an initiating fiber component. The reactive fiber component includes at least one of the following: an undrawn polymer fiber and a substantially undrawn polymer fiber, wherein the first reactive fiber component is operative to stretch responsive to a load. The terminating fiber component is in a compressed state and is operative to elongate to a length at which the terminating fiber component is operative to prevent further stretching of the first reactive fiber component responsive to the load. The initiating fiber component is operative to break responsive to a predetermined force and permit the first reactive fiber component to stretch responsive to the load.

Abstract: A photomask for the fabrication of dual damascene structures and a method for forming the same are provided. A method for fabricating a multilayer step-and-print lithography (SFIL) template includes providing a blank having a substrate, an absorber layer and a first resist layer. A metal layer pattern of a dual damascene structure is formed in the substrate at a first depth using a lithography system. The first resist layer is removed from the blank and a second resist later is applied. The lithography system is used to form a via layer pattern of the dual damascene structure at the first depth while the metal layer pattern is simultaneously etched to a second depth.

Abstract: An arborist's climbing rope in which an eye splice having a splice tuck can be formed at one end includes in one embodiment a core of polypropylene, a first braided tubular sheath of nylon disposed about the core and a second braided tubular sheath of a polyester disposed about the first braided tubular sheath, the core cross-sectional diameter being in the range of 1 to 10% of the total cross-sectional diameter of the arborist's climbing rope. In forming the eye splice a portion of the core is intentionally removed near the eye splice to form a space within the first tubular sheath where the core has been removed and the splice tuck is buried in and substantially completely fills the space within the first tubular sheath where the core has been intentionally removed.

Abstract: A rope is disclosed that is firm for climbing purposes and in which the end of the rope can be spliced. The rope includes a core of a plurality of strands; a first braided tubular sheath disposed about the core; and a second braided tubular sheath disposed about the first braided tubular sheath. The plurality of strands fill at least a length of a center void formed in the first braided tubular sheath. The plurality of core strands are formed in an un-braided manner in at least one of twisted and non-twisted strands. At the splice the splice tucks fill the center void while the core strands fill only center void outside of the splice.

Abstract: This invention teaches a rope that can be electrified. The rope is comprised of an outer sheath and an inner core. The outer sheath includes non-conductive elements braided with one or more conductive elements. The conductive elements are wound in a parallel helical pattern and do not touch each other. The inner core is a braid comprising non-conductive and conductive elements. In both cores, the conductive elements comprise one or more metal strands and the non-conductive elements comprise one or more monofilaments of synthetic or natural fibres. Should a breakage occur in the conductive elements of the outer sheath, the conductive elements of the inner core provide conductivity across the breakage and throughout the length of the rope by intermittently contacting the conductive elements of the outer sheath. An optional coloured tracer can be braided into the outer sheath to provide better visibility since the non-conductive elements are preferably a neutral colour, such as white.
