摘要: Methods and apparatus for freezing a product. The product is frozen in a treatment container which contains a vibrating support. The vibrating support is capable of receiving a film of a cryogenic liquid. A heated temperature probe, located just before the outlet of the treatment container, measures the temperature at that location. The supply system for the cryogenic liquid has a proportional valve. A data acquisition and processing unit receives the temperature information and controls the opening of the proportional valve.

摘要: The invention relates to a method of cooling a stream of gaseous liquid. The inventive method comprises the following steps: a) the stream of liquid is confined; b) during step (a), liquid nitrogen is sprayed into the stream in order to cool the gaseous liquid; and c) the cooled gaseous liquid is recovered. In addition, another step (step d) is performed before step (b) and, during said step, the gaseous liquid is slowed down by increasing the section of the stream. According to the invention, when articles are being cooled, the gaseous liquid recovered during step (c) is sent to said articles.

摘要: An apparatus and method is provided for freezing, storing, and/or shipping products, in particular fish, at super-frozen temperatures. The apparatus includes a modular cryogenic cooler for removably interfacing with an insulated shipping container to maintain the interior of the container at a super-frozen temperature less than or equal to about −50 degrees C. Aspects of the method include a delivery method for providing an essentially unbroken delivery chain of frozen products from a location of freezing (to a super-frozen temperature) to a location of defrosting the products (e.g., a point of sale and/or consumption of the products).

摘要: A method of operating a hybrid temperature control system. The method provides an evaporator, which has a discharge line, a supply line, and a evaporator coil. The evaporator coil is in fluid communication with the discharge line and the supply line. The method also provides a microprocessor, which regulates a supply of a heat absorbing fluid to the evaporator. The method further couples a sensor module to the microprocessor. The sensor module is near the evaporator, senses a temperature of a gas exiting the evaporator, and sends a temperature to the microprocessor. The method also turns off the supply of the heat absorbing fluid to the evaporator when the microprocessor determines that the temperature of the gas exiting the evaporator reaches a predetermined temperature.

摘要: A valve assembly in which a primary valve is provided within a primary passageway of a valve housing to control flow rates of a fluid flow within the primary passageway. The primary valve is moved between open and closed positions relative to a valve seat defined in the primary passageway to produce higher flow rates as the primary valve is moved towards the open position and lower flow rates as the primary valve is moved towards the closed position. As the primary valve is moved towards the closed position an ever increasing flow rate occurs within a secondary passageway formed in the primary valve by at least an orifice. A secondary needle valve, projecting into the orifice, meters such ever increasing flow rate and thereby the lower flow rates of the fluid flow. The secondary needle valve can be attached to the valve housing and thus, be fixed in position or can be attached to a valve steam to control the degree to which the secondary needle valve projects into the orifice.

摘要: An automated cold storage apparatus, and related method thereof, provides a sample process management system that is a revolutionary approach to the storage and retrieval regarding critical samples. The system—a significant technological breakthrough in laboratory automation—is the first ultra low temperature robotic system capable of being validated. Samples in containers are stored and retrieved robotically through an airlock climate-control chamber that is automatically dehumidified by a dry gas purge, such as a carbon dioxide or nitrogen purge or the like. This purge rapidly reduces ambient humidity to a desirable relative humidity (RH), e.g., less than about 15% RH, virtually eliminating the accumulation of frost. Microplates are systematically identified using barcode technology, for example. Once through the climate-controlled chamber, the containers (i.e., samples) are robotically transferred to the rotary mechanism. This mechanism transports the containers to a derived nest location upon the storage means, such as a carousel or to one of the stationary addresses.

摘要: A liquid nitrogen cooling assembly incorporating a liquid detector which feeds back to control the nitrogen supply is disclosed. A pressure-controlled nitrogen source (e.g., a dewar) feeds liquid nitrogen to a heat exchanger mounted to a differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) cell. The DSC cell is cooled as liquid nitrogen in the heat exchanger contacting the cell is vaporized into nitrogen gas. The exhaust (nitrogen gas and, occasionally, nitrogen liquid) is fed to a liquid detection/evaporator assembly. If liquid nitrogen is detected in the exhaust by the liquid detection/evaporator assembly, an indication is fed back using a liquid detection feedback loop to a pressure control device. The pressure control device reduces the amount of pressure on the nitrogen source in order to eliminate liquid in the exhaust. When there is liquid in the exhaust, the liquid detection/evaporator assembly also collects and vaporizes the exhaust liquid so that it can be properly vented to atmosphere in gas form. When liquid is no longer detected in the exhaust, the pressure control device increases the pressure on the liquid nitrogen source until liquid is detected in the exhaust. Subsequent cycles control pressure in this manner to keep the heat exchanger full of liquid nitrogen.
