摘要: A sensor device comprising a holographic element comprises a grating or hologram recorded in a holographic recording medium wherein at least one physical and/or chemical and/or optical characteristic of the holographic element or the image produced by it varies as a result of variation in relative humidity or moisture content in the air surrounding the element. Also provided is an acrylamide-based photopolymer and an acrylamide-based reflection hologram.

摘要: A holographic or diffraction device responsive to interrogation, the device comprising an image-former and an image-concealer; wherein the image-former is adapted such that light reflected from or transmitted through it forms a combination of overt and covert holographic images; wherein the image-concealer acts to attenuate the overt holographic image of the combination of images, making the overt holographic image become not visible and a covert holographic image become visible, and wherein the attenuation of the overt holographic image by the image-concealer is alterable responsive to interrogation.

摘要: A holographic sensor comprising a thin film polymer matrix that undergoes a change in response to a substance to be sensed, the matrix containing within its volume a set of two or more holographic recordings, each recording providing a holographic image when the sensor is illuminated, wherein the presence or appearance of each image is visible to the eye as a function of the response of the sensor to the substance to be sensed. The images provide the dynamic range of the sensor. Such a sensor can be used to provide a visible image that changes or appears to the eye in response to an analyte.

摘要: A method of making a holographic device (4) comprises the steps of: forming a heterogeneous support medium (2) having at least two regions (1) which are heterogeneous; placing the heterogeneous support medium under recording conditions, e.g. in a liquid X, which are selected to change one or more physical properties of the heterogeneous support medium, wherein the extent or nature of the change in the physical property or physical properties is different in at least two of the heterogeneous regions; recording a holographic image in the heterogeneous support medium while it is under recording conditions; and removing the heterogeneous support medium from recording conditions. Such a device can be used for security and authentication.
