There has been known a conventional simplified analyzer having, for example, a transparent hermetic container filling powdery or granular color reaction reagent. With the known analyzer, water quality analysis was performed by thrusting a separately prepared pin into the hermetic container to make a through hole, and sucking a testing liquid to be analyzed or inspected into the hermetic container through the through hole with a pipette or the like to cause the color reaction. The conventional analyzer entailed a disadvantage such that the pin to be thrust into the hermetic container to make the through hole must be separately prepared previously, and thus, has been required to be improved. Furthermore, there would be a possibility that the pin is thrust out of place make an inappropriate point. To eliminate such a disadvantage caused by the conventional analyzer, the present invention has an object to provide a novel simplified analyzer capable of being securely handled with ease by everyone without using any separate tool such as a pin noted above and a method for manufacturing the analyzer. To attain the object described above, according to the present invention, there is provided a simplified analyzer comprising a see-through hermetic container filling powdery or granular color reaction reagent, and a spigot partially inserted in the hermetic container in an extractable state. The spigot is provided at one end with a finger stopper larger in diameter than the other portion, so as to be drawn out while holding the finger stopper with user's fingers to form the through hole for letting out air of the hermetic container and sucking the testing liquid to be analyzed. By using the spigot prepared in advance, the through hole having a suitable diameter for sucking the testing liquid to be analyzed can be formed at the appropriate point in the container. According to the analyzer of the invention, differences among individuals in performing an analyzing test do not occur.

A membrane-based assay device for detecting the presence or quantity of an analyte residing in a test sample is provided. The device utilizes a chromatographic zone on which is disposed a plurality of microporous particles. The chromatographic zone can effectively reduce the nullhook effectnull in a simple, efficient, and relatively inexpensive manner. In particular, the plurality of microporous particles allows larger-sized analyte/probe complexes to reach the detection zone before the uncomplexed analyte. Because the uncomplexed analyte is substantially inhibited from competing with the complexes for the binding sites at the detection zone, the incidence of nullfalse negativesnull may be limited, even at relatively high analyte concentrations.

Fluid contained in a specimen cup, which is attached to the toxicology indicator cap in a fluid tight fashion, may be introduced to the reagent test strips within the test cavity through an aperture in the bottom surface of the toxicology indicator cap when the specimen cup is inverted. Fluid access is to the reagent test strips is controlled by an absorbent material within the aperture which is in contact with the reagent test strips. Returning the specimen cup and toxicology indicator cap to an upright position allows fluid to wick from the absorbent material onto the reagent test strips where reagent-analyte reactions may be observed.
