Abstract: A secondary frequency modulation method for a hydropower plant which satisfies positive correlation between a regulation rate and a rated capacity of the hydropower plant, three secondary frequency modulation gain methods are provided, in which feedforward gain regulation and amplification gain regulation call as many hydropower generating units as possible to participate in secondary frequency modulation, and avoid or restrain the problem that the power regulation sensitivity of an active power regulation dead zone of a single hydropower generating unit is weakened; transfer gain regulation transfers the regulation margin of the hydropower generating unit not participating in the secondary frequency modulation to the hydropower generating unit participating in the secondary frequency modulation within the limit of the active power regulation dead zone of a single hydropower generating unit, so that the latter can obtain a larger active power regulation range.

The method includes: determining an objective function including a first sub-objective function and a second sub-objective function; determining an outer-level constraint based on a quantity of configured energy storage systems (ESSs), a quantity of hardened lines, and a rated power and capacity configuration of an ESS; determining a middle-level constraint based on a line failure; determining an inner-level constraint based on node power of a distribution network, a line load capacity, a line power flow, a power output of a unit, a node voltage, climbing of the unit, operation of the ESS, and LS; determining parameters based on the outer-level constraint, the first sub-objective function, the middle-level constraint, the inner-level constraint, and the second sub-objective function; and controlling energy storage of a DG in the distribution network.

Abstract: A power conversion device includes a power conversion device includes an auxiliary power supply, a first load, a power conversion circuit, and a controller. When an output voltage of the auxiliary power supply in operation is greater than or equal to a first voltage threshold, the controller controls the first load to be connected to the power conversion device, so that the output voltage of the auxiliary power supply decreases. When the output voltage of the auxiliary power supply is greater than or equal to a second voltage threshold after the first load is connected to the power conversion device, the controller controls the first load to be disconnected from the power conversion device, and controls the output voltage of the auxiliary power supply to be a first target output voltage. The first voltage threshold is less than the second voltage threshold.

Abstract: In order to ensure reliable power for charging electric vehicles is available at each charging station at a charging site having multiple charging stations, the systems and methods disclosed herein provide for charge transfers between batteries of such charging stations. A plurality of charging stations at a charging site are connected via local alternating current (AC) circuit in order to transfer energy between the charging stations, such as to balance the energy stored at the respective batteries of the charging stations. Each charging station includes a system controller controlling operation of the charging station and a bidirectional inverter to convert AC input power from a power grid or the local AC circuit to direct current (DC) power for storage in a battery of the charging station and to convert DC power from the battery to AC output power to the local AC circuit, as controlled by the system controller.

Abstract: A system and method to join distributed energy resources (DER) to achieve common objectives is provided. The present technology organizes and/or aggregates DERs by routing a (DER) program request for resources to DER contributors capable of responding to and performing the request using a routing system. The system accesses a plurality of DER profiles, each profile associated with a DER contributor capable of contributing a resource to the request, and calculates an initial value for each DER profile based on request attributes and scoring metrics associated with the profile. The system then calculates a fitness metric for each DER profile based on the initial value using a neural network having weights based on the plurality of performance indicators and selects the DER profile and contributors to whom to route the request.

Abstract: A transformer economizer automatically disconnects a main electric power transformer from a grid power line during low-load periods, and automatically reconnects the main transformer to the grid power line during high-load periods, to reduce low-power electricity losses incurred by the main transformer. The main transformer is therefore deenergized and a much smaller auxiliary transformer is energized during low-load periods to reduce the low-power electricity losses incurred by the main transformer. The main transformer is then automatically switched back into service during high-load periods, while the auxiliary transformer is switched out of service. This provides long-term energy, cost, and carbon footprint savings by automatically switching the large transformer's loads to a much smaller auxiliary transformer, and therefore proportionally lower losses, during light-load conditions. Transformer inrush currents are ramped and the secondary voltage remains electrically connected at all times to avoid service interruptions and switching disturbances.
