摘要： A method and apparatus for sterilizing and destroying a syringe needle includes a rotating needle carriage that receives a needle in a loading position. The needle carriage is rotated downwardly to a cut-off position. At the cut-off position, two opposing contact blades pinch the needle, which electrically connects the positive and negative terminals of a battery. Current flows through the contact blades and the needle, thereby melting the needle. A slight further rotation of the needle carriage causes the contact blades to shear the needle. The sheared portion of the needle then falls into a waste compartment in the bottom of the apparatus. When the syringe is removed from the needle carriage, the needle carriage rotates upwardly and returns to the loading position.

摘要： A portable electrical apparatus for destroying contaminated sharp medical instruments. The sharp portion of an instrument is inserted into the apparatus and electrically grounded. An electrically activated electrode is pivotally advanced to approach or contact the point of the sharp instrument to create an electrical arc that progressively volatilizes the sharp portion. A wiper bar dislodges slag from the electrode surface into a receptacle. The contaminated medical instrument is made safe for disposal by the destruction of the sharp portion and by the killing of germs by the heat of the electrical arc.

摘要： A machine for destroying used syringes. A box includes a pair of bearing rods extending internally thereacross which slidably receive a carriage having a pair of spaced apart knives mounted thereto. A funnel mounted within the box is positioned beneath an aperture provided in the top wall of the box to receive the syringe to be destroyed. A pair of clamps mounted beneath the funnel releasably hold the syringe as the carriage moved by a linear actuator forces the knives to engage and sever in multiple locations the syringe. The clamps release the severed syringe allowing the parts to fall into a container removably positioned within the box.

摘要： A needle and syringe destructor is disclosed having particular suitability for the destruction of hypodermic syringe needles, of the single-use variety, immediately after use. The needle, and a portion of the syringe barrel, may be simultaneously severed in a single motion by means of the operator actuating a lever arm means. The lever arm means is linked to a pair of guillotine shears effectuating severance with increased mechanical advantage to the operator. Severed portions drop to a storage chamber. Remaining syringe barrel portions may then be discarded into the storage chamber through a movable closure lid providing separate access to the storage chamber. The severed needle and syringe are destroyed to prevent re-use and accidental injury to medical personnel.

摘要： A device for the destruction of an injection needle has a sleeve (6; 14) in which the needle (3) mounted on a syringe may be inserted. The sleeve includes projections (9; 16) located beneath one another and projecting from opposite sides towards the path of movement of the needle within the sleeve. The projections are forced, by means of an actuator (5; 16) which is movably disposed in the sleeve and, as a result of engagement with the needle holder (4) is entrained in the movement of the needle, to move towards and into the path of movement of the needle so that the needle is bent or broken between these projections and is, in such a manner, rendered unusable.
