Abstract:
A cutting unit for an impact cutting device having at least one first and one second matrix element for retaining a workpiece to be processed, wherein at least one of the matrix elements is moveably supported relatively to the other matrix element or the other matrix elements and at least one of the matrix elements comprises a variable cross-section for retaining the workpiece. Further, a matrix element having a variable retaining cross-section for a workpiece is provided.
Abstract:
A shape memory alloy (SMA) actuator predeformed in compression actuates a cable cutter mechanism. A cable or other item to be cut is placed between an anvil and a movable blade affixed to the SMA element. The SMA element is heated by an electrical resistance heater to cause it to return to its undeformed elongated state, thereby moving the blade against the anvil to compress and sever the cable or other item. Ones of the shape memory alloy actuator have a plurality of parallelly arranged SMA elements, every other one of which is predeformed in compression and intermediate ones of which are predeformed in tension. The elements are coupled end-to-end so that, when they are heated to cause them to return to their undeformed states, their respective elongations and shrinkages combine at the output to produce an actuation that is the cumulation in the same direction of the changes of all the elements. The plurality of elements may be in a side-by-side or concentric arrangement.
Abstract:
A shearing machine is disclosed which includes a first lower blade and a second lower blade positioned at right angles with respect to each other. A ram is provided which is swingably movable upwardly and downwardly with respect to the lower blades, the ram including a first upper blade and a second upper blade positioned at right angles with respect to each other. A drive drives the ram upward and downward with respect to the lower blades and connecting rods couple the drive to the ram. An adjusting mechanism is coupled to the ram and the connecting rods for adjusting the lower limit of the stroke of the ram. Furthermore, the machine includes adjustors for adjusting the horizontal clearance between the upper and lower blades when the ram is in its lowered position.
Abstract:
Plate shears comprise a fixed blade (2) secured on a bed (1), and a movable blade (3) fixed in a blade beam (4). The blade beam (4) is mounted for reciprocation in the direction of shearing in guides (7) of a clamping beam (5) which is permitted turning motion and articulated to the bed (1). The blade and clamping beams (4,5) are set in motion by means of a drive connected therewith through a system of levers (8,9).
Abstract:
A metal plate shears for cutting large sheets of metal includes a fixed blade, and a movable blade cooperable therewith. The movable blade is mounted on a plate having a plurality of circular apertures therein. Discs are mounted in these apertures, the discs being eccentrically supported, the axes of the eccentrics being in the same angular relation to and the same angular relation from, the centers of the discs. Arms are secured to the discs, and hydraulic means are provided for rotating the discs about their eccentric axes. Rotation of the discs lowers the plate bearing the movable cutting knife past the fixed knife, shearing off a sheet inserted between the blades.
Abstract:
A shearing machine of the kind provided with a displaceable supporting table in which displacement of the table takes place against a hydraulic biasing force.
