摘要： Disclosed is an indicator which includes a scale plate having a ground color, a pointer rotatably mounted on the scale plate and indicia such as numerals and scales arranged on the scale plate for indicating a specific value in cooperation with the pointer. The pointer includes an upper surface on which a fluorescent part having fluorescent brightener therein is formed, and the area of the fluorescent part of the pointer is smaller than that of the upper surface of the pointer. Each of the indicia has a contour defined by a normal ink having a different color from the ground color of the scale plate and a fluorescent part having fluorescent brightener therein formed in the contour of each indicia. The area of the fluorescent part of the indicia is smaller than that of the indicia. This indicator further includes an unltraviolet light source for illuminating the fluorescent parts of the pointer and the indicia so as to fluoresce only when the ultraviolet light source is turned on, whereby suppressing that the indicia and pointer become too bright and distracting for a driver when illuminated by the ultraviolet light source.

摘要： An automotive instrument having a meter scale plate and an indicator lens which are arranged in a side-by-side fashion on the same display panel. A light-shielding projecting wall is provided on the rear side of the meter plate constituting the display panel, so as to prevent the light illuminating the meter scale plate to leak into the area of the indicator lens. A light-shielding structure is provided on a case of the instrument so as to shield the end of the light-shielding projecting wall, thereby preventing the meter illuminating light from leaking to the area of the indicator lens.

摘要： The display glass of an indicating instrument which is placed in front of a displaying front plate is heated by the absorption of radiating heat which is emitted by the heating of the displaying front plate by PTC electrical resistance elements which are advantageously fastened at the displaying front plate's rear side. By way of this device that is simple and cost-effective in regard to construction, fogging is removed on a display glass of an indicating instrument and a repeated fogging is reliably avoided.

摘要： An electroluminescent light fixture is provided which is designed for use in military aircraft which is especially arranged for night viewing compatibility either by the naked eye or with the night vision goggles of an aircraft pilot. The fixture generally comprises a frame which prevents an observer from directly viewing the source of light, an electroluminescent strip adjacent the outer portion of the frame, and a lens of a modified torus shape which is adjacent the EL strip and which pipes the light of the EL strip towards the face of the instrument. The lens is configured with a light-emitting face which is optimally angled from the normal to the instrument dial surface such that maximal uniformity of illumination is provided. Two light-emitting faces angled at different angles may be provided to highlight dial pointers. The lens is also preferably pigmented so as to eliminate undesired reflections and glare. In one embodiment, the lighting fixture snaps on and sits around the bezel of the particular instrument which is to be illuminated. In another embodiment, the lighting fixture is incorporated inside the instrument.

摘要： A slide rheostat having a light-emitting device for permitting a person to check the position of the knob of the rheostat in the nighttime or in the dark. The rheostat includes a transparent upper baseplate, a transparent lower baseplate, a laminated sheet including a pressure-sensitive contact member, a transparent sliding body that reciprocates, the knob being formed on the sliding body, an indicator portion having a transparent region, and a pressure-applying member. The light-emitting device is disposed below the lower baseplate rather than on the knob carried by the sliding body. When the light-emitting device is lit, the emitted light is transmitted through the lower baseplate, the laminated sheet, the upper baseplate, and the transparent region of the indicator portion that has a scale thereon. Part of the light directly reaches the outside through this transparent region, while the other part arrives at the outside after passing through the knob.
