Abstract: Circuit breakers and associated methods are described. According to one aspect, a circuit breaker includes an input node configured to receive an AC waveform of electrical energy, an output node configured to output the AC waveform, mechanical breaker circuitry configured to selectively operate in a conductive state to conduct the AC waveform from the input node to the output node, switching circuitry configured to selectively operate in a conductive state to conduct the AC waveform from the input node to the output node, energy absorption circuitry coupled with the input node and the output node, wherein the mechanical breaker circuitry and the switching circuitry are changed from the conductive state to a non-conductive state after detection of a fault, and wherein the energy absorption circuitry is configured to dissipate electrical energy of the fault after the mechanical breaker circuitry and the switching circuitry are changed to the non-conductive state.

Abstract: A load protection apparatus for protecting an electrical load connected to an output terminal of the load protection apparatus against overcurrent, includes an overcurrent protection circuit having a power switch through which the electrical load receives an electrical load current via the output terminal and having a sensor component connected in series with the power switch. The sensor component is adapted to directly generate a voltage drop corresponding to the current rise speed of the electrical load current flowing from an input terminal of the load control apparatus, via the sensor component and the power switch to the output terminal. The sensor component further includes a driver circuit adapted to detect an occurring overcurrent depending on the voltage drop generated by the sensor component and depending on a voltage drop along the power switch adapted to switch off said power switch upon detection of an overcurrent within a switch-off period.

Abstract: The control apparatus includes an electrical signal detection unit, a control unit, a contactor, a first execution unit, a protection unit, and a second execution unit. The electrical signal detection unit detects an electrical signal on a loop, and send the electrical signal to the control unit. The control unit generates a control signal, and send the control signal to the first execution unit. The contactor is connected to the loop. The first execution unit controls the contactor to be closed or opened, where when the contactor is closed, the loop is connected, and when the contactor is opened, the loop is disconnected. The protection unit detects a current value on the loop when the contactor is closed, where an opening instruction is sent to the second execution unit when the current value reaches a trip threshold. The second execution unit opens the contactor when receiving the opening instruction.

Abstract: An example switch device includes a switching element to connect/disconnect a current path from a power supply terminal to a ground terminal via a load, and an overcurrent protection circuit to limit output current flowing in the switching element to be an overcurrent limit value or less. When an output short circuit of the load is detected, the overcurrent protection circuit decreases the overcurrent limit value to be lower as a power supply voltage is higher. The overcurrent protection circuit includes a reference current generation portion that includes: a differential amplifier portion, an upper side current generation portion arranged to generate a predetermined an upper side current, a lower side current generation portion arranged to generate a lower side current, and a difference current generation portion arranged to output a difference current based on the lower side current and the upper side current, as the reference current.

Abstract: A method for protecting an electrical low-voltage circuit for a protective switching device. A mechanical break contact unit, which is switched by opening or closing contacts for current flow in the low-voltage circuit, and an electronic interrupter, which is switched by semiconductor-based switching elements into a high-impedance state or a low-impedance state of the switching elements, are connected in series. If the level of current in the low-voltage circuit exceeds a current threshold value, prevention of current flow through the low-voltage circuit is initiated by high-impedance switching of the electronic interrupter. When the electronic interrupter is high impedance or switched to high impedance, the level of current in the low-voltage circuit continues to be determined, and if a first residual current threshold value is exceeded, the contacts of the mechanical break contact unit are opened.

Abstract: A multi-socket power extension source includes a power inlet port, and power outlets coupled to the power inlet port through switches. The multi-socket power extension source includes a controller configured to control the switches. The controller is configured to repetitively determine if an estimate of a total current through the power inlet port exceeds a prescribed current limit. When the estimated total current exceeds the prescribed current limit, the controller is configured to identify the outlet having the largest current increase and turn off the switch coupled to that outlet. The controller is further configured to reconnect the surge outlet, when an updated estimated total current is less than the prescribed current limit by at least the current of the surge outlet, or after a prescribed reconnect time period. The multi-socket power extension source may be coupled to a secondary multi-socket power extension source in an expansion configuration.

Abstract: A heating loop protective circuit, a respiration heating circuit and respiration aiding equipment are provided, wherein the heating loop protective circuit is connected to a heating loop and includes an acquisition sub-circuit, a suppression sub-circuit, a protective sub-circuit and a discharge sub-circuit; the acquisition sub-circuit collects input voltage of the protective sub-circuit and sends the input voltage to the suppression sub-circuit; the suppression sub-circuit clamps the input voltage and releases current through the discharge sub-circuit; and the protective sub-circuit performs short-circuit protection when the current is too high. In the present disclosure, the over-voltage protection is realized through the voltage clamp in such a manner of monitoring the voltage of the heating loop and suppressing the input voltage through the suppression sub-circuit, and then the over-current protection is realized through the protective sub-circuit when the circuit current is too high.

Abstract: A system includes a first USB Type-C Power Delivery (USB-C/PD) port and a control circuit operatively coupled to the first USB-C/PD port. The control circuit is configured to determine whether a short circuit condition has occurred based on a first threshold voltage. The control circuit is also configured to turn off a ground isolation switch when short circuit condition occurs. The control circuit is further configured to determine a whether a voltage on a ground line is less than a second threshold voltage. The control circuit is further configured to turn on the ground isolation switch when the voltage on the ground line is less than the second threshold voltage. The control circuit may perform one or more error recovery operations after turning on the ground isolation switch.
