    Abstract: A system for retaining a vehicular component for painting includes a magnetic fixturing element configured to detachably attach at the vehicular component that is to be painted. The magnetic fixturing element comprises a magnetic element. A fixture includes metallic structure that is configured to engage the magnetic fixturing element. With the fixture engaged with the magnetic fixturing element, the component is magnetically retained at the fixture for painting. With the fixture engaged with the magnetic fixturing element, the component is painted by a painting device of the system. After the component that is magnetically retained at the fixture is painted, the magnetic fixturing element is removable from the component and reusable on other components to be magnetically retained at the fixture and painted.

    Abstract: An interior rearview mirror assembly for a vehicle includes a mirror casing and a prismatic interior reflective element. The reflective element comprises a wedge-shaped glass substrate having a perimeter edge about a periphery of the glass substrate and extending between first and second surfaces thereof. The glass substrate has a mirror reflector established at the second surface. A front surface of the perimeter edge provides a smooth curved transition at the perimeter edge between a perimeter region of the first surface and the mirror casing. The front surface of the perimeter edge is rounded with a radius of curvature of at least about 2.5 mm. No portion of the mirror casing encompasses the first surface of the glass substrate.

    Abstract: A vehicular interior prismatic rearview mirror assembly includes a mirror casing and a prismatic reflective element disposed at the mirror casing and comprising a glass mirror substrate. The mirror substrate has a forward rounded perimeter region that is contactable and viewable by the driver of the vehicle and that provides a rounded transition between a front surface and a perimeter edge of the substrate. The mirror substrate has a rear perimeter edge region chamfered to form an angled surface between the rear surface and the perimeter edge. A reflector coating and a protective coating are disposed at the rear surface. An encapsulant is disposed about a perimeter region of the rear surface so as to encompass and overlay a portion of the angled surface and the reflector coating and the protective coating at the rear surface, with no part of the encapsulant being disposed at the forward rounded perimeter region.

    Abstract: A portable electronic device includes a housing and a glass cover panel having a generally planar central region and a rounded or curved perimeter region circumscribing the generally planar central region. The portable electronic device includes circuitry disposed in the housing and operable to detect a touch or proximity of a user at the glass cover panel at the generally planar central region. The rounded perimeter region has an exposed rounded surface circumscribing the generally planar central region and the housing does not overlap the rounded perimeter region of the glass cover panel. The rounded perimeter region may have a radius of curvature of greater than about 0.5 mm. The rounded perimeter region provides a smooth curved transition between a generally planar front surface of the generally planar central region of the glass cover panel and a side surface of the housing of the portable electronic device.

    Abstract: A slider window assembly for a vehicle includes a frame portion, at least one fixed window panel that is fixed relative to the frame portion, and a movable window panel that is movable along upper and lower rails of the frame portion between a closed position and an opened position. A gesture sensing device is operable to sense a gesture of a user in the vehicle and to determine if the sensed gesture is indicative of an open window command or a close window command. A drive system is operable to move the movable window between the opened position and the closed position. The drive system moves the movable window panel responsive to the gesture sensing device determining that a sensed gesture is indicative of an open window command or a close window command.

    Abstract: An interior rearview mirror assembly for a vehicle includes a mirror casing and a mirror reflective element disposed at an outer end region of a sidewall of the mirror casing. The mirror reflective element includes a first glass substrate having a front surface and a rear surface and a substrate thickness spanning between the front and rear surfaces. The first glass substrate includes a flat region and a rounded perimeter edge circumscribing the flat region. Curvature of a rounded outside surface of the outer end region of the sidewall matches curvature of the rounded perimeter edge of the first glass substrate whereby the rounded outside surface of the outer end region of the sidewall and the rounded perimeter edge of the first glass substrate combine to provide a curved transition between the front surface of the flat region and a principal outside surface of the sidewall of the mirror casing.
