Abstract: Disclosed herein is an electronic device including a flip flop and clock generation circuitry for controlling the flip flop. The flip flop includes a master latch receiving input for the flip flop, with the master latch latching the received input to its output in response to a first clock. The slave latch receives input from the output of the master latch, and latches the received input to its output in response to a second clock. The clock generation circuitry is configured to logically combine a device clock and an input clock to produce the first and second clocks.

Abstract: A system and method for multi-touch integrity sensing for a multi-touch capacitive touch screen determines a distinction between wanted touches, such as via a finger or stylus, and unwanted touches such as via foreign matter, errors, and the like. Mutual capacitance and self-capacitance sensing data is collected and processed to identify reference strengths and detection thresholds. If differences between mutual/self-capacitance strength and the corresponding reference strengths exceed the corresponding detection thresholds, then the touch is classified as an unwanted (for example, water) touch.

Abstract: A touch screen controller includes input circuitry receiving touch data from the touch screen. Processing circuitry acquires touch data from the input circuitry in a self-capacitance sensing mode, locates a force island and locates a sense island. A length of the force island and a length of the sense island is calculated. If the length of the force island is greater than a threshold force length and if the length of the sense island is greater than a threshold sense length, then the product of the lengths is calculated, and if greater than a threshold size, designated a valid area. Touch data in the valid area is then acquired in mutual-capacitance sensing mode, and represents palm touch if a maximum strength value in the valid area is less than a maximum area threshold and if a minimum strength value in the valid area is greater than a minimum area threshold.

Abstract: A method includes loading a clock divider counter with most significant bits (MSBs) of a divider value, decrementing the counter at a same edge of each pulse of a clock signal, and comparing a value contained in the counter to a reference value and generating an end count signal if the value contained in the counter matches the reference value. If the value is even, the reference value is set to 1. If the value is odd, the reference value is set to 1, except for every other assertion of the end count signal, where the reference value is instead set to 0. A toggle signal transitions at a same edge of each pulse of the end count signal. The counter is reloaded with MSBs of the divider value based upon the end count signal. A divided version of the clock signal is generated based upon the toggle signal.

Abstract: Resources of multiple systems are managed in a computer device. A first processing system having a set of dedicated resources also has a resource manager to manage at least one of the resources. The first processing system is prevented from directly accessing the resources without authorization. A second processing system, connected to the set of dedicated resources, has a supervisor application to grant control to individual resources to the resource manager of the first processing system. A computer program is executed in the first processing system. The supervisor application grants control of at least one resource to the resource manager of the first processing system in a way that is transparently to the computer program executing in the first processing system.

Abstract: A method of differential self-capacitance measurement is used to enhance a signal-to-noise ratio of sense lines in a touch panel display, thereby improving touch sensor accuracy. The differential self-capacitance measurement is implemented for a touch panel using charge sharing between adjacent sense lines of the touch panel matrix. Sequential differential self-capacitance measurements can be compared with one another by computing the difference |CS1−CS2|−|CS2−CS1| to sense a change caused by an intervening event. By scanning the entire touch panel matrix, events can be tracked across the touch panel.

Abstract: The amount of power being output to the load is sensed by sampling the frequency of the pulse width modulation signal that is controlling the switch that is providing the power to the load. If the pulse width modulation signal has a high frequency, then it will be providing higher power to the load. As the power drawn by the load decreases, the frequency of the pulse width modulation power supply signal will decrease. By sensing and periodically sampling the frequency of the pulse width modulation signal that is providing power, the demand of the load can be quickly and accurately determined. As the power demand of the load decreases, the peak current that the power supply switch can provide also decreases. The permitted peak current dynamically changes to adapt to the power drawn by the load.

Abstract: A charge sensing circuit generates a voltage in a sensing period that is indicative of sensed charge. The generated voltages are accumulated by an accumulator circuit over a number of sensing periods. A noise detection circuit senses when the voltage generated by the charge sensing circuit is outside of a boundary and generates a detection signal in response thereto. A control circuit, in response to the detection signal, controls the accumulator circuit to block accumulation of the voltages generated by the charge sensing circuit during at least the sensing period in which the detection signal is generated. An analog-to-digital converter circuit then converts an accumulated output voltage from the accumulator circuit to a digital value at the end of an accumulation time period that includes the sensing periods. The end of the accumulation time period is delayed by at least one sensing period in response to the detection signal.
