    Abstract: A cooperative-vehicle system suitable to operate an automated vehicle in a courteous or cooperative manner includes an object-detector and a controller. The object-detector is used by the host-vehicle to detect an other-vehicle attempting to enter a travel-lane traveled by the host-vehicle. The controller is in communication with the object-detector. The controller is configured to control motion of the host-vehicle. The controller is also configured to adjust a present-vector of the host-vehicle to allow the other-vehicle to enter the travel-lane. The decision to take some action to allow the other vehicle to enter the travel-lane may be further based on secondary considerations such as how long the other-vehicle has waited, a classification of the other-vehicle (e.g. an ambulance), an assessment of how any action by the host-vehicle would affect nearby vehicles, the intent of the other-vehicle, and/or a measure traffic-density proximate to the host-vehicle.

    Abstract: An electrical outlet wall plate includes a plate having an outer surface, an inner surface, and a peripheral edge. The outlet wall plate defines a socket opening configured to receive an electrical outlet socket and defining a fastener opening configured to receive a fastener configured to secure the outlet wall plate to the outlet socket. The outlet wall plate further includes a plug stabilizing feature having an inner wall, an outer wall, and a top wall. The plug stabilizing feature projects from the outer surface of the plate and at least partially surrounding a perimeter of the socket opening. The outlet wall plate limits lateral and vertical movement of the plug terminals in the socket and protects the operator from inadvertent contact with plug terminals the as the plug is inserted into the socket.

    Abstract: A heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning (HVAC) system includes a blower, a fresh-air valve, a bypass duct, and a bypass valve. The blower is configured to urge air to flow from an inlet to an outlet of the blower. The fresh-air valve is operable to provide a mixture of air drawn from an outside-air duct and a recirculated-air duct to the inlet. The fresh-air valve is operable to a recirculate position where the outside-air duct is substantially blocked from communicating with the inlet. The bypass duct is configured to couple the outlet to the outside-air duct. The bypass valve is located in the bypass duct and is operable to a closed position and an open position. The cabin is ventilated when the fresh-air valve is in the recirculate position, the bypass valve is in the open position, and the blower is operated to blow air out of the outside-air duct.

    Abstract: A vehicle control system for operating an automated vehicle in a fashion more conducive to comfort of an occupant of the automated vehicle includes a sensor, an electronic-horizon database, vehicle-controls, and a controller. The sensor is used to determine a centerline of a travel-lane traveled by a host-vehicle. The electronic-horizon database indicates a shape of the travel-lane beyond where the sensor is able to detect the travel-lane. The vehicle-controls are operable to control motion of the host-vehicle. The controller is configured to determine when the database indicates that following the shape of the travel-lane beyond where the sensor is able to detect the travel-lane will make following the centerline by the host-vehicle uncomfortable to an occupant of the host-vehicle, and operate the vehicle-controls to steer the host-vehicle away from the centerline when following the centerline will make the occupant uncomfortable.

    Abstract: A map-update system to update maps used by an automated vehicle includes an object-detection-device, an operator-communication-device, and a controller. The object-detection-device is used to detect objects proximate to a vehicle. The operator-communication-device is used to communicate an inquiry to an operator and detect a response from the operator. The controller is in communication with the object-detection-device and the operator-communication-device. The controller is configured to navigate the vehicle in accordance with a digitized-map, determine when an object detected by the object-detection-device does not correspond to an expected-feature present in the digitized-map, output an inquiry regarding the object to the operator via the operator-communication-device, and update the digitized-map based on the response from the operator.

    Abstract: A right angled coaxial electrical connector is provided and includes a housing having a first and second opening and a first terminal disposed within the internal cavity that is configured to be connected to a center conductor of a coaxial cable inserted in the first opening. The connector also includes a center contact disposed within the internal cavity, accessible through the second opening, and defining a corresponding second terminal configured to receive a tip of the first terminal. The connector additionally includes a conductive shield surrounding the center contact and disposed within the internal cavity and an insulator intermediate the shield and the center contact. The insulator defines a portal extending from the second opening to the location of the tip of the first terminal when fully seated within the second terminal. Methods of verifying proper assembly of the right angled coaxial electrical connector are also provided.
