Abstract: An augmented reality (AR) eyewear device has a lens system which includes an optical screening mechanism that enables switching the lens system between a conventional see-through state and an opaque state in which the lens system screens or functionally blocks out the wearer's view of the external environment. Such a screening mechanism allows for expanded use cases of the AR glasses compared to conventional devices, e.g.: as a sleep mask; to view displayed content like movies or sports events against a visually non-distracting background instead of against the external environment; and/or to enable VR functionality.

Abstract: The technical problem of matching records in different datasets, for example a host dataset and a partner dataset storing records representing respective users, while maintaining the privacy of each dataset, is addressed by providing a privacy safe joint identification protocol. The privacy safe joint identification protocol computes respective anonymous joint identifiers for records in the two datasets. An anonymous joint identifier is generated such that the host-assigned and the partner-assigned identifies that have been determined to represent the same user are mapped to the same anonymous joint identifier.

Abstract: A system for generating a voltage at a pixel array includes a plurality of display pixels forming the pixel array, each display pixel comprising a pixel circuit for driving the pixel. The system further comprises a row formatter configured to store a plurality of bits representing image data for a row of display pixels of the LCOS array; a row controller configured to write a subset of the plurality of bits representing image data for a pixel of the row into a plurality of data latches of said pixel circuit; and a waveform generator for generating reference pulses represented by a set of reference bits. The pixel circuit is configured to compare each reference bit to corresponding bits stored in the latches of each pixel circuit, and generate voltage at an electrode of each pixel based on this comparison.

Abstract: A map-based graphical user interface for a social media application displays to special social media activity information based on submission of geo-tagged social media items to the platform. For users and or submitted items that need predefined location fuzzing criteria, such activity is represented in the graphical user interface at an intentionally inaccurate position.

Abstract: A gesture-based wake process for an AR system is described herein. The AR system places a hand-tracking input pipeline of the AR system in a suspended mode. A camera component of the hand-tracking input pipeline detects a possible visual wake command being made by a user of the AR system. On the basis of detecting the possible visual wake command, the AR system wakes the hand-tracking input pipeline and places the camera component in a fully operational mode. If the AR system, using the hand-tracking input pipeline, verifies the possible visual wake command as an actual wake command, the AR system initiates execution of an AR application.
