Abstract:
A condition monitoring system and method employ a storage device that stores information representing a plurality of boundary points of a boundary circumscribing an area of interest in which the boundary points are defined by two prescribed parameters, and a controller that obtains at least one condition point defined by current values of the prescribed parameters, determines a first boundary point of the boundary points that is closest to the condition point, and generates geometric data representing a geometric relationship between the first boundary point, the condition point and a second boundary point of the boundary points. The controller performs further calculations taking into account the geometric data to generate coordinate condition data, and determines whether the condition point lies within the area of interest based on a comparison between coordinates of the condition point and the coordinate condition data.

A system for activating a vehicle function includes a vehicle and at least one remote controller. The least one remote controller is configured to receive, prior to a user approaching their vehicle, a request from the user to have a vehicle function activated when the user approaches their vehicle, and to periodically transmit request signals indicating the request. The vehicle defines a first communication range with the at least one remote controller for communication of the request signals. The vehicle is vehicle configured to receive at least one of the request signals upon the at least one remote controller's entry into the first communication range, and generate an instruction to activate the vehicle function in accordance with the request.
Abstract:
A display and a controller are used to implement a tire pressure optimization system for a vehicle. The controller is programmed to receive inflation pressure information indicative of a vehicle tire's inflation pressure, and identify an operating state of the vehicle as being in an optimum state when the inflation pressure information indicates optimum performance, in a warning state when the inflation pressure information indicates the inflation pressure is beyond a warning pressure threshold, or in an advisory state when the inflation pressure information indicates an undesirable performance characteristic outside of the warning state and the optimum state. The controller is programmed to operate the display to output an optimum state indication when the operating state is in the optimum state, a warning indication when the operating state is in the warning state, and an advisory indication when the operating state is in the advisory state.

A method for determining whether a vehicle was washed at a carwash includes recording navigation data for a vehicle. The method further includes identifying whether the vehicle was located at a carwash based on the recorded navigation data, identifying at least one indication that the vehicle was washed while located at the carwash, and determining that the vehicle was washed at the carwash if the vehicle was located at the carwash and at least one indication is identified that the vehicle was washed while located at the carwash.
Abstract:
A vehicle front end structure includes an engine cradle including an engine mounting structure and a force receiving member. The force receiving member is fixedly attached to the engine cradle. The force receiving member includes a force receiving surface extending rearward from a front corner of the engine cradle in a laterally outbound direction at an inclined angle with respect to a vehicle longitudinal direction. The force receiving member is arranged with respect to the engine cradle to receive a longitudinally directed rearward force on the force receiving surface. The force receiving member is configured with respect to the engine cradle to redirect at least a portion of the longitudinally directed rearward force laterally to the engine cradle at the engine mounting structure which is located rearward of the front corner.
Abstract:
A method of monitoring usage of a charging station includes collecting probe data from a plurality of electric vehicles. The probe data includes charging activity history. A usage value associated with a charging station is determined based on the collected probe data. The usage value associated with the charging station is provided to a requesting electric vehicle.
Abstract:
An on-board vehicle control system and method employ a storage device that stores information representing a plurality of boundary points of a boundary circumscribing an area of interest in which the boundary points are defined by two prescribed parameters, and a controller that obtains at least one condition point defined by current values of the prescribed parameters, determines a first boundary point of the boundary points that is closest to the condition point, and generates geometric data representing a geometric relationship between the first boundary point, the condition point and a second boundary point of the boundary points. The controller performs further calculations taking into account the geometric data to generate coordinate condition data, and determines whether a warning condition exists by determining whether the condition point lies within the area of interest based on a comparison between coordinates of the condition point and the coordinate condition data.
Abstract:
Systems and methods of reducing peak energy consumption of a power consumer comprise preprogramming an actual consumption line based on expected power usage, and determining the battery's connection time, required departure time, required departure energy and connection energy. A charge rate and a discharge rate are preselected, and a first charge energy level is calculated from the peak energy level less the discharge rate and the charge rate. A connection time of the battery when the battery is connected to the power consumer, a connection energy of the battery at the connection time, a required departure time of the battery, a required departure energy are determined. A power exchange curve is determined during a connection period between the connection time and the required departure time configured to minimize an expected peak energy level.
