Abstract: A method for controlling bearers in a core network includes receiving, from a user equipment (UE) device, a request for access to network resources, where the core network is coupled with a primary radio access technology (RAT) and a secondary RAT. The method includes determining an access point name (APN) RAT access restriction in response to the received request, where the APN RAT access restriction associates an APN with a corresponding RAT, where the corresponding RAT comprises at least one of the primary RAT or the secondary RAT. The method also includes assigning a radio bearer based on the determined APN RAT access restriction, wherein the assigned radio bearer exchanges data via the corresponding RAT; and identifying, to a master node, the assigned radio bearer for exchanging data between the UE device and a device specified by the APN via the corresponding RAT.

Abstract: A system includes an updated network function and a consumer network function. The updated network function includes a recent update and is configured to register at a Network Repository Function (NRF) using a Network Function (profile (NF profile). The NF profile indicates a network function type (NF type) and a first priority associated with the update. The consumer network function is configured to: receive a message from a network component; determine to engage a service of a network function of the NF type based on the message; determine a desired priority for the service; and send a discovery request to the NRF in response to the message; receive a search result from the NRF in response to the discovery request. The search result has a list of candidate network functions of the NF type.

Abstract: A computer device may include a memory storing instructions and processor configured to execute the instructions to generate a Radio Access Network (RAN) slice in a Fifth Generation (5G) New Radio (NR) base station designated for a particular type of service; determine requirements associated with the generated RAN slice; and reserve resources of the 5G NR base station for the generated RAN slice, wherein reserving the resources includes specifying one or more antenna beams generated by the 5G NR base station. The processor may be further configured to obtain criteria for categorizing user equipment (UE) device sessions as belonging to the generated RAN slice; identify UE device sessions as belonging to the RAN slice based on the obtained criteria; and apply the determined requirements to the identified UE device session using the reserved resources.

Abstract: A method, a device, and a non-transitory storage medium are described in which a mobile edge computing service is provided. The mobile edge computing service provides for the hosting of a function of an application in a mobile edge computer network, and another function of the application to be hosted in a network external from the mobile edge computer network. The mobile edge computing service includes an on-boarding service that obtains subscription information and policies. The mobile edge computing service also includes network resource availability and security measure verifications.

Abstract: Systems and methods receive first traffic originating from a mobile device and second traffic originating from second devices tethered to the mobile device; tag the first traffic to indicate that the traffic originates from the mobile device; tag the second traffic to indicate that the traffic originates from the second devices; receive subscriber data that includes a first threshold and a second threshold, wherein the first threshold is associated with the first traffic originating from the mobile device and the second threshold is associated with the second traffic originating from the second devices tethered to the mobile device; determine that an amount of the second traffic exceeds the second threshold; rate limit the second traffic without rate limiting the first traffic when the amount of the second traffic exceeds the second threshold and an amount of the first traffic does not exceed the first threshold.

Abstract: A method may include receiving, at a serving call session control function (S-CSCF) device, from a home subscriber server (HSS), a subscriber profile that includes a first subscription state associated with a user device. The first subscription state is one of a plurality of subscription states in addition to barred and not barred. The method includes routing messages to at least one of a plurality of application server devices based on at least one initial filter criteria (iFC) associated with the first subscription state. The method also includes receiving, at the S-CSCF device and from the HSS, a subscription state change to a second subscription state from the HSS, wherein the second subscription state is one of the plurality of subscription states. The method further includes identifying at least one iFC associated with the second subscription state, and routing messages to at least one of the plurality of application servers based on the at least one iFC associated with the second subscription state.
