Abstract: The present disclosure provides base stocks and processes for producing such basestocks by polymerizing internal olefins. The present disclosure further provides base stocks, comprising low molecular weight polyolefin products, having one or more of improved flow, low temperature properties, and thickening efficiency. The present disclosure further provides polyolefin products useful as base stocks and or diesel fuel. In at least one embodiment, a process includes introducing a feedstream comprising C4-C30 internal-olefins with a catalyst system comprising a nickel diimine catalyst optionally in the presence of a solvent. The method includes obtaining a C6-C100 polyolefin product having one or more of a carbon fraction of epsilon-carbons of from about 0.08 to about 0.3, as determined by 13C NMR spectroscopy, based on the total carbon content of the polyolefin product.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a porous liquid or a porous liquid enzyme that includes a high surface area solid and a liquid film substantially covering the high surface area solid. The porous liquid or porous liquid enzyme may be contacted with a fluid that is immiscible with the liquid film such that a liquid-fluid interface is formed. The liquid film may facilitate mass transfer of a substance or substrate across the liquid-fluid interface. The present disclosure also provides methods of performing liquid-based extractions and enzymatic reactions utilizing the porous liquid or porous liquid enzyme of the present disclosure.

Abstract: Proppant particulates like sand are commonly used in hydraulic fracturing operations to maintain one or more fractures in an opened state following the release of hydraulic pressure. Fracturing fluids and methods of hydraulic fracturing may also use proppant particulates composed of fluid coke material (also referred to as fluid coke proppant particulates). In some instances, the fluid coke proppant particulates are characterized by a bulk density of less than about 0.9 grams per cubic centimeter.

Abstract: Method of refining whole crude oil or a wide cut crude oil, the methods comprising a combination of a hydrotreating reactor, a distillation tower, and an optional flash evaporation separator. The methods can also include light ends processing, fluid catalytic cracking, reforming, hydrocracking, and demetalization. In some methods a whole crude oil is first processed through a flash evaporation separator to create a wide cut crude oil and in other methods, the flash evaporation separator is not used as the whole crude oil is first treated in a hydrotreater.

Abstract: Methods are provided for using a molecular sieve catalyst for dewaxing formed using a synthesis mixture comprising a morphology modifier. The catalyst may be used, for example, for production of a lubricant base stock. For example, ZSM-48 crystals formed using the morphology modifier (and/or formulated catalysts made using such crystals) can have an increased activity and/or can provide an improved yield during catalytic dewaxing of lubricant base stocks.

Abstract: Processes for producing alcohols from biomass are provided. The processes utilize supercritical methanol to depolymerize biomass with subsequent conversion to a mixture of alcohols. In particular the disclosure relates to continuous processes which produce high yields of alcohols through recycling gases and further employ dual reactor configurations which improve overall alcohol yields. Processes for producing higher ethers and olefins from the so-formed alcohols, through alcohol coupling and subsequent dehydration are also provided. The resulting distillate range ethers and olefins are useful as components in liquid fuels, such as diesel and jet fuel.

Abstract: Ink compositions are provided for using solvent-based additive manufacturing (SBAM) techniques to form contactor structures and/or structures for use in an adsorption or absorption contactor. Methods forming a contactor using SBAM are also provided. The ink compositions can include a substantial content of adsorbent particles to provide enhanced adsorption by a contactor. Metal organic framework (MOF) structures and zeotype framework structures are examples of types of adsorbent particles that can be incorporated into an ink composition for forming a contactor structure by SBAM. The ink can further include a polymeric component that can serve as the structural component of a polymeric structural material produced by the additive manufacturing method. Such a structural material can correspond to a polymeric material with incorporated adsorbent particles. In some aspects, the polymeric structural material and/or the adsorbent particles can have selectivity for adsorption of CO2 from a process fluid flow.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides processes for refining hydrocarbon feedstocks and apparatus thereof. In at least one embodiment, a process includes hydroprocessing a mineral hydrocarbon feedstock in the presence of a first catalyst in a first reactor, and removing a first reactor effluent from the first reactor. The process includes hydroprocessing a biocomponent feedstock in the presence of a second catalyst in a second reactor, and removing a second reactor effluent from the second reactor. The process includes mixing the first reactor effluent and the second reactor effluent to form a mixture. The process includes introducing the mixture to a separation unit to form a fuel product. In at least one embodiment, an apparatus includes a first hydroprocess reactor. The apparatus includes a second hydroprocess reactor coupled with the first hydroprocess reactor. The apparatus includes a separation unit coupled with the second hydroprocess reactor.
