Abstract:
An electrical switchgear includes a thermal trip, an electromagnetic trip, and a switching mechanism with a latching point and at least one contact point that is continuously opened or closed. An operating handle is connected to one end of a lug by means of a coupling element and the other end of the lug is coupled to a contact base that carries a moving contact member. The thermal trip is coupled to a trip lever by a connecting rod that passes over the contact base so that both the thermal trip and the electromagnetic trip open a latching point in the event of an excess current and/or short circuit current.
Abstract:
A seating pad assembly is provided for use by travelers to increase the comfort for a seat on a public transportation vehicle or at a public transit terminal. The seating pad assembly includes a cushion formed from a viscoelastic foam and having dimensions substantially conforming to the dimensions of at least the hip/thigh support and the back support of the seat. Thus, the viscoelastic foam will bridge hard points and pinch points of the seat and will efficiently support the traveler across the gap. The seating pad assembly further includes a removable cover, straps for holding the pad in a coiled condition and a carrying bag for transporting the pad assembly.
Abstract:
A flexible tip electrode for an ablation catheter and methods for making the same are disclosed. The electrode has a surface configuration that improves flexibility of the electrode. Also, the surface configuration may allow electrode lengthwise freedom of movement, such that the electrode may be shortened when pressed against the target tissue. A coil may be located in the electrode to bias the electrode toward a predetermined configuration.
Abstract:
A hood lift mechanism for reversibly increasing the energy absorption capability at appropriate force levels of a vehicle hood includes a vehicle hood; an active material in operative communication with the vehicle hood, wherein the active material comprises a shape memory alloy, a ferromagnetic shape memory alloy, a shape memory polymer, a magnetorheological fluid, an electroactive polymer, a magnetorheological elastomer, an electrorheological fluid, a piezoelectric material, an ionic polymer metal composite, or combinations comprising at least one of the foregoing active materials; and an activation device in operative communication with the active material, wherein the activation device is operable to selectively apply an activation signal to the active material and effect a reversible change in a property of the active material, wherein the reversible change results in an increased clearance distance between the vehicle hood and an underlying component.
Abstract:
The invention relates to switching equipment comprising a housing, at least one contact point that has at least one fixed and one mobile contact part and an electromagnetic trip device, comprising a trip coil and a hammer armature. Said equipment is wherein the electromagnetic trip device comprises a snap body consisting of a material with magnetic shape memory properties, which interacts with the hammer armature. According to the invention, when a short-circuit occurs, the snap body is switched between two bi-stable positions by the influence of the magnetic field of the trip coil.
Abstract:
The composite fabric material of the invention comprises a water-absorbing woven or knitted fabric, the area and thickness of which, or the area or thickness of which, increases by at least 10% in its water-absorbed state relative to its dried state; and an area change-restricting means composed of a woven or knitted fabric, nonwoven fabric, resin film or resin coating, the area and thickness of which does not substantially change in its water-absorbed state relative to its dried state, the area change-restricting means being bonded or sewn onto at least one side of the water-absorbing woven or knitted fabric over a partial region so as to leave a plurality of other partial regions separated from each other, or over the entire region, the means serving to restrict change in area by water absorption at the bonded or sewn portions of the water-absorbing woven or knitted fabric. Upon wetting with water, the area and thickness, or the area or thickness, of the water-absorbing woven or knitted fabric at the plurality of the partial regions that are separated from each other increases, thereby changing the three dimensional structure of the composite fabric material.
Abstract:
The disclosure relates to a woven fabric for use in an implantable medical device. The woven fabric comprises shape memory element strands woven with textile strands. At least one of the shape memory element strands has at least one float of at least five textile strands between binding points.
Abstract:
A medical device for use in delivering RF energy to a tissue opening is disclosed. In one embodiment, the medical device comprises a compliant electrode. The compliant electrode can include a shape memory material, such as NITINOL, to facilitate the electrode having at least one relaxed orientation. The electrode can be deployed from a delivery shaft inside the left atrium, for example, of a heart through the delivery shaft. The electrode can be configured to substantially conform to the tissue proximate the tissue opening. After energy is applied to the tissue between the left and right electrodes, the left electrode can be removed from the left atrium by being received back into the delivery shaft and the delivery shaft thereafter removed from the opening.
Abstract:
A conforming electrode for delivering ablative energy to tissue generally includes a plurality of flexible metal tubes, each having a longitudinal axis, a proximal end, and a distal end. The flexible metal tubes are arranged in a bundle with their longitudinal axes aligned parallel to each other. In addition, the flexible metal tubes are electrically coupled to a conductor for transferring ablative energy to the flexible metal tubes. The conductor may be a loop around the flexible metal tubes and to which the flexible metal tubes may be secured. The proximal ends of the flexible metal tubes may be secured to the distal end of a catheter shaft.
Abstract:
A door system includes a structural member and a door being selectively movable with respect to the structural member. An actuator includes an active material that is configured to change at least one attribute in response to an activation signal. The actuator is configured such that the change in at least one attribute causes the door to move relative to the structural member.
