摘要: A protective garment comprising an outer shell, a moisture barrier, and a thermal liner. At least one of the outer shell, the moisture barrier, and the thermal liner includes one or more vents formed therein. In one embodiment, the vents may be an opening formed in at least one transferal portion of the moisture barrier and the thermal liner. A movable flap may be provided to extend over the opening to provide thermal protection to a wearer of the protective garment at a location of the vents. The protective garment may be employed as turnout gear compliant with NFPA 1971.

摘要: An article of apparel is formed that is effective to regulate the temperature of the wearer. In an embodiment, a thermal regulation composition is applied to a surface of a textile substrate at a first temperature and a first pressure to form a thermal regulation membrane disposed on the surface of the textile substrate. The textile substrate with the thermal regulation membrane is compressed at a second pressure and a second temperature to position a portion of the thermal regulation membrane below the surface of the textile substrate. The textile substrate is incorporated into an article of apparel. The thermal regulation composition can include one or more system reactive components provided within a binder, where a system reactive components can include a cooling agent, a latent heat agent and/or a heat dissipation agent.

One suitable active-cooling substance can be a mixture of polymer emulsion, water, glycerin, and Potassium Nitrate. The active-cooling substance can be deposited on the fabric, or printed on the fabric, or sprayed or brushed on the fabric, or soaked into the fabric, or otherwise integrated into the fabric.

摘要: A perspiration shield is disclosed. The perspiration shield is releasably adherable to the skin of an underarm and has an inner side and an outer side. The shield comprises a layer of a perspiration absorbent material, a layer of a perspiration impermeable material, and an adhesive composition suitable for releasably adhering the shield to the skin of a wearer's underarm. The materials are arranged such that the perspiration absorbent material is exposed over at least a portion of the inner side of the shield defining a first area, and the adhesive composition is disposed on the inner side of the shield defining a border circumferential about the first area. A portion of the shield is arranged to extend radially outwardly of the border defining a tab portion to facilitate easier removal of the shield from the wearer's skin following use.

摘要: Multilayer substrates are provided that do not require use of an attachment mechanism to combine the different layers of material. Further, the systems and method for creation thereof is also provide. Additionally, structured garments with very few or no seams are provided herein. The systems and method for creation thereof is also provided. More specifically, sprayable nanofibers are utilized to create the above-described multilayered fabrics and structured garments. Accordingly, the provided systems and method are more efficient and more cost effective than previously utilized systems and methods for creating multilayer or structured substrates or garments that required the use of adhesive mechanisms and/or several seams.

摘要: The present invention relates to a protective material which is used in a wearable article to enhance thermal regulation of the user, provide protection to the user by means of pressure and energy absorption, and acts as a platform for technologies (such as sensors) that increase performance and function when worn by the user. The protective, thermoregulatory impact resistant material includes a mesh material which has layers of woven yarn connected together between layers, and having an overall pattern. The mesh material is knitted as a layered three-dimensional fabric, where the layers are interconnected by spacer yarn. The mesh material provides both evaporative cooling, and acts as an insulating barrier, and its properties can be controlled by an openness, thickness, or tightness of the weave of the yarn, or a distance between the layers. The mesh material can be worn under protective clothing and equipment.
