Abstract:
A method of generating a user?s location using a mobile device. The method comprises, determining a signal snapshot on the mobile device, the signal snapshot describing characteristics of unregulated radio frequency (RF) transmissions detectable by the mobile device. Generating the user?s location on the mobile device using the signal snapshot and at least one additional input from the mobile device. The generating and determining are iteratively repeated. The unregulated RF transmission can comprise WiFi signals.
Abstract:
Fiber optic connectors and other structures that can be easily and quickly prepared by the craft for termination and/or connectorization in the field are disclosed. More specifically, the fiber optic connectors and other structures disclosed are intended for use with glass optical fibers having a large core. In one embodiment, the fiber optic connector includes a ferrule having a bore sized to receive an optical fiber and a buffer layer at a front end face of the ferrule. Methods of making the fiber optic connectors and other structures are also disclosed. The methods disclosed allow “rough cutting” of the optical fibers with a buffer layer thereon by the craft.
Abstract:
A collaborative authoring application provides an authoring environment in which two or more users can edit a document concurrently. Each user edits a copy of the document, sends updates to a master copy of the document, and receives updates from the master copy of the document. The authoring environment generally inhibits the users from providing conflicting editing instructions to the master copy of the document. For example, each user can generate a content lock about one or more data units within the document. The authoring environment may synchronize content locks automatically and content only at the request of the user.
Abstract:
A method of evaluating the effect of a xenobiotic on biomarkers, such as drug transporters and drug-metabolizing enzymes in hepatocytes is provided. The method comprises the formation of a xenobiotic-stimulated biological sample, such as whole blood, which contains a plurality of cytokines. A portion of xenobiotic-stimulated biological sample is cultured with hepatocytes. The hepatocytes are then analyzed to evaluate the activity of drug transporters and/or drug-metabolizing enzymes, or other biomarkers to determine the effect of the xenobiotic on drug metabolism in the hepatocytes.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for processing contact information are described. In one embodiment, an entity name is identified from an event associated with an article, wherein the entity name is associated with an entity and the event is associated with a user, contact information associated with the entity name is identified, the entity name and at least some of the contact information is indexed, and the entity name and at least some of the contact information is stored.
Abstract:
Enclosed, collapsible and shippable disposable animal litter box which can be shipped without loss of animal litter pre-filled in the litter box, and which can be collapsed by the user for disposal after use, thus resealing the box so that used litter and animal waste are prevented from escaping the box. Litter box includes a top, bottom, left side, right side, front, and rear of sheet material with a litter tray for holding animal litter. Various sides are hingedly attached to each other for shipping, opening up by the user into an enclosed use position for the animal, and then for being closed into a disposal position after use. An animal entryway is provided. Entryway includes a removable seal for sealing entry for preventing litter from escaping when litter box is in collapsed position during both shipping of clean litter and discarding of used litter.
Abstract:
A gradient-index (GRIN) optical connector is disclosed that includes a GRIN lens having a central optical axis and front and back opposite endfaces. A plurality of optical fibers are optically coupled to the back endface of the GRIN lens and defines a first optical fiber bundle having an asymmetric arrangement relative to the central optical axis of the GRIN lens. The GRIN lens has a refractive index profile generally defined by an alpha profile having an alpha parameter α in a range 1.92≦α≦1.98. An optical fiber connector assembly formed by interfacing two of the GRIN optical connectors is also disclosed.
Abstract:
A mechanical position indicator for providing a visual indication that a first part of an aircraft landing gear has assumed a predetermined position relative to a second part, the position indicator being arranged to be coupled to a first one of the first and second parts and in a first state arranged to hold an indicator element in a deployed position, the position indicator being arranged such that upon the first part assuming the predetermined position relative to the second part, a second one of the first and second parts changes the position indicator from the first state to a second state in which the indicator element is displaced from the deployed position, the position indicator being arranged to inhibit the indicator element thereafter returning to the deployed position.
Abstract:
The present application provides a non-dispersive infrared gas sensor. The non-dispersive infrared gas sensor may include an infrared source, an infrared detector, and a waveguide extending about the infrared source and the infrared detector. The waveguide may include a reflective diffuser thereon.
Abstract:
An optical fiber comprising: (i) a multi-mode silica based glass core, said core having a 80-300 μm diameter and an index of refraction n1; (ii) a cladding surrounding the core, said cladding having a thickness ≦20 μm and index of refraction index of refraction n2 n2; and (iv) a permanent buffer.
