摘要: A method of operating a sensing element including a heating element in operative connection with electronic circuitry, wherein the sensing element forms a resistive element in a circuit of the electronic circuitry, includes, in at least a first phase, activating the electronic circuitry to heat the sensing element to a temperature at which the sensing element is responsive to an analyte gas via energy input to the heating element in a pulsed manner. A constant resistance setpoint is set for the sensing element and energy through the circuit is variably controlled via the pulsed energy input toward achieving the constant resistance setpoint. The method further includes measuring a response of the sensing element over time to the pulsed energy input.

摘要: A method of operating a gas sensor for a gas analyte including a sensing component includes, in a first mode, interrogating the sensor by periodically applying an electrical signal to the sensing component of the sensor, measuring sensor response to the electrical signal which is indicative of a sensitivity of the sensor each time the electrical signal is applied to the sensing component, determining whether one or more thresholds have been exceeded based upon the sensor response determined each time the electrical signal is applied to the sensing component, and entering a second mode, different from the first mode in analysis of the sensor response to the periodically applied electrical signals, if one or more thresholds are exceeded.

摘要: A system includes a two-conductor loop in which the loop current or current signal is controlled by a loop current controller to be proportional to a signal output from a sensor. The system further includes energy harvesting circuity in electrical connection with the two-conductor loop which includes a second current controller in parallel electrical connection with the loop current controller and a power converter in electrical connection with the second current controller. The second current controls a portion of current drawn from the two-conductor loop and delivered to the power converter from an output port thereof. The portion of the current drawn from the two-conductor loop is returned to the loop current controller from the energy harvesting circuit. Noise in the portion of the current drawn from the two-conductor loop by the second current controller is controlled by the second current controller to be below a predetermined threshold.

摘要: A respirator mask includes a face piece configured for contacting at least a portion of a face of a user, a head harness for attaching the respirator mask to a head of the user, at least one opening on the face piece, and at least one filter associated with the opening on the face piece. The at least one filter is configured to facilitate a passage of ambient air to an interior of the face piece in a first direction. The at least one filter is further configured to facilitate a passage of air exhaled by the user wearing the respirator mask in a second direction opposite the first direction from the interior of the face piece to the ambient air and reduce a passage of aerosolized particulate matter exhaled by the user in the second direction.

摘要: An open path gas detector for detecting the presence of a target gas in the presence of fog or water vapor. A transmitter transmits flashes of optical energy along a path in an area under surveillance, including energy at a sample wavelength region at which the target gas is absorbed, at a reference wavelength region not significantly absorbed by the target gas, and at a synchronization wavelength region different from the first and second wavelengths. A receiver includes a sample channel responsive to the optical energy at the sample wavelength region, a reference channel responsive to optical energy at the reference wavelength region, and a third synchronization channel responsive to the optical energy at the synchronization wavelength region. The receiver detects the target gas and synchronizes operation of the receiver to the transmitter flashes of optical energy using the output of the synchronization channel.
