    Abstract: A sample preparation cartridge for use with a sample preparation device, the cartridge includes a housing defining plural separate segments, at least one of said segments comprising a fixed section of a pipette component; and a moveable head comprising a pipette tip, the head being configured, in use, to be moved between a position in which the pipette tip is in sealed engagement with the fixed section of pipette component and a position in which pipette tip is positioned adjacent to another of said plural segments. With the present invention a disposable sample preparation cartridge and corresponding analytical reader can be provided in a very cost effective and simple manner whilst still ensuring high quality sample preparation for analysis.

The verification device applies a set of challenge signals to the UUT and then measures the responses of the UUT to the challenge signals.     Abstract: A droplet dispenser comprises a chamber (3) with a fluid inlet valve (2) and a fluid outlet valve (4). The chamber (3) is arranged such that the volume of the chamber may be varied in use to cause fluid to be alternately drawn in to the chamber (3) through the inlet valve (2) then subsequently expelled from the chamber through the outlet valve (4) to dispense a droplet. The droplet dispenser is capable of dispensing from an open reservoir and one may change the dispensed drop volume simply and easily. The droplet dispenser can also handle liquids which are normally seen as difficult to dispense, such as cyanoacrylate adhesives.

    Abstract: A cap and seal system for a liquid medicament container. The system comprises a cap formed from a substantially rigid material, and has a retention component integrally formed therewith. A seal is formed from a material which is less hard than the cap and positioned within the cap such that, when the retaining component retains the cap on a container in use the seal is positioned such that it forms a fluid tight seal between the cap and the container. A recess is formed in the seal through which a liquid outlet channel can pass in use to access the contents of the container via the cap and the seal.

    Abstract: A physically unclonable function (PUF) device comprises a plurality of optical fibres, at least some of which are arranged such that they are optically coupled. A media surround at least a portion of the optical fibres and at least one light source is configured to transmit light through one or more of the optical fibres. There is provided at least one light sensor configured to receive the transmitted light from one or more of the optical fibres and provide an output. Circuitry applies a challenge signal to at least one of the fibres using at least one light source and receives the output from the at least one light sensor, using the output to generate an identifying response to the challenge signal. The fibres are arranged such that the identifying response is unique to the device.
