摘要: Detection capability of a servo timing mark (STM) is improved. Long STM is configured by pseudo-STM forming part of an AGC/PLL pattern and intrinsic STM. When a system can not recognize the intrinsic STM, it keeps a state that a sector detection window is opened, and is operated in a long STM detection mode to recognize the long STM, thereby generates an STM detection signal. After the STM detection signal has been generated, an STM detection window is closed, and the system is operated in an intrinsic STM detection mode. Since the long STM has longer bit length than the intrinsic STM, it has high discriminating power with respect to other bit patterns. Therefore, even if the sector detection window is remained to be in an opened state, bit strings of data sector, address information in a servo sector or the like is not falsely recognized.

摘要: To provide an organic synthesizer that can conduct a pressure reaction and an atmospheric reaction in one organic synthesizer and can realize attachment of reaction vessels to the organic synthesizer and detachment of the reaction vessels from the organic synthesizer without applying any load to gas supply/discharge pipes.[MEANS FOR SOLVING PROBLEMS] An organic synthesizer comprising a reaction vessel support part (160), which can support two or more reaction vessels, and pressure regulation means (164) for regulating the pressure within the reaction vessel supported by the reaction vessel support part (160) by supplying/discharging gas. Two or more pressure regulation means (164) are provided for each reaction vessel supported by the reaction vessel support part (160). At least one pressure regulation means (164A) in the two or more pressure regulation means (164) is constructed so as to be detachable from and attachable to the other pressure regulation means (164B). The pressure regulation means (164) comprises gas supply/discharge pipes (174a to 174d) and openings (194a to 194d) for supporting the gas supply/discharge pipes (174a to 174d) The gas supply/discharge pipes (174a to 174d) are constructed so that a part near the front end can be flexed in a vertical direction and in a lateral direction and are connected to the supported reaction vessels for gas supply and discharge.

摘要: Embodiments of the invention allow a heater to reduce the clearance between a head element section and the magnetic section while reducing the risk of collision between the head element section and the magnetic disk during load/unload. In one embodiment, an HDD judges whether a heater is ON or OFF after the load process is started. If the heater is found set to ON, the HDD sets the heater to OFF. With the heater kept OFF, the HDD starts the actuator pivoting. If the heater is found set to OFF, the HDD moves the actuator from the parking position to the magnetic disk with the heater kept OFF. Upon completion of the load process, the HDD goes to the subsequent process. Since the heater is OFF during load, the risk of collision between the head element section and the magnetic disk is reduced.

摘要: An operation input unit designates an image to be compared via a thumbnail image or the like. A photographing-information extracting unit extracts, from an image file of the image stored in an image memory, photographing information including the size and the number of pixels of CCD in an image pickup apparatus having captured the image, the distance to an object, and the focusing distance of an image pickup lens. A resizing processing unit automatically enlarges or reduces at least one image to be compared so as to set substantially the same display size of the same object included in a plurality of images, serving as comparison targets, on the basis of the photographing information and display information including resolution of a display, obtained from a display setting unit. A displaying control unit displays the resized image on the display.

摘要: Embodiments of the invention prevent data loss due to very frequent writing onto adjacent data tracks. In one embodiment, an alternate zone made up of multiple adjacent data tracks is formed by setting data tracks whose usage is to be prohibited for every other data track. The data updated very frequently and data not updated too frequently are recorded in the alternate zone. Data tracks for recording the data updated very frequently, and data tracks for recording data not updated too frequently, each have one cylinder of spacing. Data loss due to leakage fluxes can thus be prevented.

摘要: An image display device of this invention has a display screen provided with a first thumbnail area, and second and third sub-thumbnail areas. Thumbnail images of images belonging to a group distant by a prescribed time period from the group displayed in the first thumbnail area are randomly extracted and displayed in the second and third sub-thumbnail areas. For example, when arranged by year of image capture, images of one year before and one year after the images displayed in the first thumbnail area are extracted at random and displayed in the second and third sub-thumbnail areas, respectively. In addition to images resulting from a search specified by the user, by also displaying on the same screen images not anticipated by the user, the user is presented with chance encounters with images.
