Abstract: Disclosed are methods, systems, apparatus, and computer programs for providing a network with assistance information from a user equipment (UE) that is participating in a multimedia telephony session. In one aspect, a method includes determining a connection parameter of a multimedia telephony session between a user equipment (UE) and a remote UE. The method further includes generating assistance information based on the connection parameter. Yet further, the method include sending, using a medium access control (MAC) control element, the assistance information to an access node (AN) serving the UE.

Abstract: An apparatus of a next generation Node B (gNB) Distributed Unit (DU) comprises one or more baseband processors to transmit one or more retransmitted Packet Data Convergence Protocol (PDCP) Protocol Data Units (PDUs) received from a gNB Central Unit (CU) to a user equipment (UE), and to feed back not only a latest, in-sequence New Radio User-plane (NR-U) Sequence Number (SN) to the CU for Release 15, but also a highest, in-sequence successfully delivered/transmitted PDCP SN, optionally, with a NR-U SN up to which the reported PDCP SN should be applied, which can provide an exact range of successfully delivered/transmitted status for retransmitted packets even in case of DU's re-ordering based on PDCP SN before transmitting to the UE. The apparatus can include a memory to store the reported PDCP SN and NR-U SN.

Abstract: 5G methods and architectures to determine active SCells and their bandwidth parts (BWP) used in carrier aggregation (CA) are disclosed in which activating a BWP for an active SCell is performed initially according to a default value provided in initial radio resource control (RRC) messaging. After initialization, SCells and the SCell BWPs used by the user equipment (UE) are activated by RRC messaging, downlink control information (DCI) or dedicated medium access control (MAC) control elements (MAC CEs) with the initial BWP used for an activated SCell being a default value provided during initialization.

Abstract: Embodiments of a system and method for providing DRX enhancements in LTE systems are generally described herein. In some embodiments, a system control module is provided for controlling communications via a communications interface. A processor is coupled to the system control module and is arranged to implement an inactivity timer and an on-duration timer for determining an active time for monitoring subframes on the physical downlink control channel for control signals, the processor further monitoring subframes after the active time.

Abstract: Embodiments described herein relate generally to a communication between a user equipment (“UE”) and a plurality of evolved Node Bs (“eNBs”). A UE may be adapted to operate in a dual connected mode on respective wireless cells provided by first and second eNBs. The UE may be adapted to estimate respective power headroom (“PHR”) values associated with simultaneous operation on the first and second wireless cells. The UE may cause the first and second PHR estimates to be transmitted to both the first and second eNBs. The first and second eNBs may use these estimates to compute respective uplink transmission powers for the UE. Other embodiments may be described and/or claimed.

Abstract: A centralized RAN architecture that includes lower layer transmission nodes (referred to as distributed units (DUs) herein) that connect to an upper layer RAN node (referred to as a centralized unit (CU) herein). A centralized RAN architecture may include a functional split, between the CU and DU, corresponding to the Packet Data Convergence Protocol (PDCP) and Radio Link Control (RLC) layers. In one embodiment, a CU may store copies of downlink PDCP PDUs that are transmitted to a first DU. The CU may retransmit, to a second DU, those of the PDCP PDUs which were previously transmitted to the source DU but have not been acknowledged as successfully delivered by the source DU.

Abstract: Techniques described herein may be used to enable User Equipment (UE) to switch between Radio Access Technologies (RATs) while transitioning from an inactive state to an active state. For example. a UE may connect to a base station via one type of RAT (e.g., Long-Term Evolution (LTE) RAT), enter an inactive state, and later, while transitioning from the inactive state to an active state, connect to another base station via another type of RAT (e.g., a New Radio (NR) or 5th Generation (5G) RAT). The UE may transition from one RAT to another RAT without increasing signaling between the UE and the network beyond minimal signaling involved in a transition of the UE from the inactive state to an active state. The network may further minimize signaling by determining and communicating minimized connection configuration information to the UE.

Abstract: Embodiments of a User Equipment (UE) and methods of communication are generally described herein. The UE may, if a regular buffer status report (BSR) is triggered and a logical channel scheduling request (SR) delay timer is not running, and if available uplink shared channel (UL-SCH) data resources do not meet one or more logical channel prioritization (LCP) mapping restrictions configured for a logical channel of uplink data: trigger a scheduling request to request UL-SCH data resources for a new transmission of uplink data. Currently pending SRs and BSRs may not be cancelled after assembly of a medium access control (MAC) protocol data unit (PDU), but may be cancelled at a later time when a MAC PDU including a BSR is transmitted.
