A motor vehicle includes a clutch and an automated transmission between the engine and the drive wheels of the vehicle. A method for shift control in the motor vehicle when starting off or under way includes continuously performing computer simulations of the future driving of the vehicle, at least in response to information on road incline and throttle opening position, for a set of different shift schedules with combinations of engine speeds when shifting and shift steps, and selecting a shift schedule from the set of shift schedules which is optimal with regard to a selected criterion.

The present invention relates to a control system and communications systems that make it possible to transport traffic in a connection-oriented mode using the network infrastructure (30) and hardware of a traditionally connectionless network (34). According to the invention a traditionally connectionless network is complemented with a connection-oriented control plane (37). A subset (38b) of the address space (38) that in a connectionless network is used to define destination addresses is reserved for connection-oriented transport and is used to define path labels. An advantage of the invention is that an inexpensive Ethernet infrastructure (30) can be used for implementing a connection-oriented network (35).

Method and device for controlling the position of an automatic disk clutch (3) as a function of the position of a throttle lever (48, 49) arranged in a vehicle is disclosed. In some preferred embodiments, the method is employed when starting the vehicle from stationary or virtually from stationary, in which a function (e.g., a primary function) of the disk clutch (3) is to transmit motive force from an internal combustion engine (1) arranged in a vehicle to an input shaft (7) of a stagegeared gearbox (9). The position (48, 49) of the disk clutch is also preferably controlled as a function of at least one of the parameters: vehicle weight; tractive resistance of the vehicle; and the selected transmission ratio between the gearbox input shaft and the driving wheels of the vehicle.

A network noise suppressor includes a decoder for partially decoding a CELP coded bit-stream. A noise suppressing filter H(z) is determined from the decoded parameters. The filter is used to determine modified LP and gain parameters. Corresponding parameters in the coded bit-stream are overwritten with the modified parameters.

Method and arrangement for selecting a starting gear for a vehicle having an engine (3), an AMT-type transmission (5) and a power take-off (9) for maneuvering at least one body device on the vehicle. The method includes the steps of generating a first signal upon activation of the power take-off (9) for the maneuvering of at least one body device mounted on the vehicle. The gear selection strategy of the transmission (5) is controlled for selection of a predetermined starting gear in dependence on at least the first signal and maintaining the predetermined starting gear for as long as at least one predetermined condition is met.

A method for optimizing a braking sequence in a vehicle with automatic transmission (3) and gearbox (9) and automatic cruise control, which cruise control controls acceleration and braking to achieve a set speed, taking into account the distance to the vehicle in front. Data simulations are carried out continually of how the vehicle will be driven in the future, for a set of different combinations of engine speed at which a gear change takes place, gear change step and braking sequence, and a braking sequence with associated gear change schedule is selected that will be optimal. The vehicle is equipped with at least two different braking systems, for example service brake and auxiliary brake (48, 6). The system selects to brake primarily with the braking system that has the least tendency to wear.

Method and apparatus for distributing brake torque between at least a first and a second braking device on a motor vehicle having at least two wheel pairs. The first braking device is a friction brake which acts on at least one wheel pair and the second braking device acts on at least one driven wheel pair. The distribution of brake torque between the first braking device and the second braking device takes account of brake torque required and also the maximum brake torque the first braking device and the second braking device can deliver. The distribution of brake torque takes place when the vehicle is driven with a cruise control function.

The present invention relates to a motor vehicle comprising an internal combustion engine and a first electronic control unit (48) for controlling the engine depending on the setting of a manual throttle, an electronic control unit (45) for controlling the transmission, depending on a set position of a manual gear selector (46). The invention is characterized in that one of the control units is disposed, with fed-in parameters and thus at least knowledge of the target speed of the vehicle, the surrounding topology and the throttle opening position to reduce the throttle opening, in those cases where the vehicle, relative to the target speed, has a speed below target speed and gravity can subsequently accelerate the vehicle. In a similar manner, the kinetic energy of the vehicle is used, in those cases where the vehicle has an above target speed and gravity can subsequently retard the vehicle.
