Abstract: A clutch assembly includes a first shaft extending along and rotatable about a first shaft axis, and a second shaft extending along and rotatable about a second shaft axis that is parallel with the first shaft axis. The clutch assembly also includes a first friction component coupled to and rotatable with the first shaft, and a second friction component coupled to and rotatable with the second shaft. The clutch assembly additionally includes a band clutch assembly. The band clutch assembly includes a retaining band disposed about the first and second friction components, and a retaining component coupled to the retaining band. The retaining band is engageable with the first and second friction components, and the retaining band and the retaining component are rotatable with the first and second shafts during rotation of the first and second shafts.

Abstract: Clutch temperature management in a slip control method and arrangement for a drivetrain including a continuously variable transmission is described herein. The drivetrain includes a clutch that is so controlled as to slip when a torque higher than the usable torque attempts to pass through. The temperature data from the clutch is used to determine the usable torque. Accordingly, the clutch prevents the prime mover from stalling.

Abstract: Operating a clutch assembly of a vehicle drive train, the clutch assembly comprising a clutch with a clutch component that exchanges heat at least indirectly with a medium which is conducted at least partially in the clutch, comprises at least: a) determining an operating point parameter which is representative of a current operating state of the clutch; b) determining a first thermal property parameter of the medium, as a function of the determined operating point parameter; c) determining a second thermal property parameter of the at least one clutch component; d) calculating a component temperature of the at least one clutch component as a function of at least the following three values: a further component temperature of a further clutch component, the first thermal property parameter, and the second thermal property parameter; and e) adapting activation of the clutch as a function of the calculated component temperature.

Abstract: A method for controlling the engagement of a power take-off (PTO) clutch of a work vehicle may generally include implementing one or more recovery actions to prevent the clutch from being damaged and/or to prevent the vehicle's engine from stalling. For instance, an energy-related recovery action may be implemented when an estimated clutch energy transmitted through the PTO clutch is greater than or equal to a maximum allowable clutch energy associated with the clutch. In addition, or as an alternative thereto, a stall-related recovery action may be implemented when the engine speed is less than or equal to a predetermined engine stall speed and the speed deceleration rate for the engine is greater than or equal to a predetermined deceleration rate threshold.

Abstract: A method for controlling engagement of a power take-off (PTO) clutch of a work vehicle may generally include transmitting, by a computing device, a control signal associated with initiating engagement of the PTO clutch, determining a clutch slippage energy generated during engagement of the PTO clutch due to clutch slippage and, while the PTO clutch is getting engaged, calculating a clutch engagement time remaining until engagement of the PTO clutch is completed based on the clutch slippage energy and a maximum clutch engagement energy associated with the PTO clutch. In addition, the method may include determining a torque command for controlling engagement of the PTO clutch as a function of the remaining clutch engagement time and controlling the engagement of the PTO clutch based on the torque command.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for determining a bite point of a hybrid clutch in a hybrid vehicle. The hybrid clutch is actuated by a hydrostatic clutch actuator (12) and disconnects or connects an internal combustion engine (2) and an electric motor (3); the bite point is determined by slowly actuating the hybrid clutch (4) starting from a separating position of the hybrid clutch (4), this position being in the non-actuated state, with a defined torque reaction of the electric motor (3) being detected. The invention also relates to a method in which the quality of the bite point is improved, the duration of the bite point adaptation is essentially shortened, the bite point being adapted during the running of the internal combustion engine (2) and when the electric motor (3) is immobile and a torque reaction of the electric motor (3) is validated by the torque reaction of the internal combustion engine (2).

Abstract: An electronic control unit actuates a clutch by a clutch actuator during traveling of a vehicle when engine torque is lower than a specified threshold. Further, the electronic control unit detects displacement of the clutch, at which a rotational speed difference between an engine speed and an input shaft rotational speed of a transmission becomes a specified rotational speed difference. Furthermore, the electronic control unit corrects the displacement of the clutch when the engine torque is equal to or larger than the specified threshold based on the displacement of the clutch, which is detected. In this way, a torque transmission limit clutch position corresponding to engine torque, at which a vehicle travels less frequently, can appropriately be estimated.

Abstract: A method for controlling PTO clutch engagement includes determining a first change in clutch speed based on an inertial load of a PTO implement. The method also includes determining a second change in clutch speed based on a threshold amount of energy of a PTO clutch. The method further includes determining a third change in clutch speed between the first change in clutch speed and the second change in clutch speed. The method also includes adjusting a clutch current based on the third change in clutch speed.
