    Abstract: Certain aspects involve selectively combining uplink transmissions in a distributed antenna system (“DAS”). For example, a unit of the DAS can receive baseband uplink transmissions from remote units of the DAS via a first channel and a second channel. The unit can generate a first combined uplink signal by combining baseband uplink transmissions received from a first subset of the remote units via the first channel that include data for transmission to a base station. The unit can generate a second combined uplink signal that includes baseband uplink transmissions received from a second subset of the remote units via the second channel and excludes or attenuates baseband uplink transmissions that are received from the first subset of the remote units via the second channel and that lack data for transmission to the base station are excluded or attenuated. The unit can transmit the combined uplink signals to the base station.

    Abstract: Systems and methods for optimized telecommunications distribution are provided. For example, a distributed antenna system can include a master unit for transceiving signals with remote units operable for wirelessly transceiving signals with mobile devices in a coverage area. A self-optimized network analyzer can be in a unit of the distributed antenna system. A self-optimized network controller in the distributed antenna system can output commands for changing operation of a component in the distributed antenna system in response to analysis results from the self-optimized network analyzer. In some aspects, the master unit includes base transceiver station cards for receiving call information in network protocol data from a network and for generating digital signals including the call information from the network protocol data for distribution to the remote units.

    Abstract: One embodiment is directed a powered device that comprises a connector to connect a multi-conductor cable to the powered device and device circuits partitioned into a first partition and a second partition. The powered device is configured to receive power from a first cable circuit and a second cable circuit provided over the multi-conductor cable. The powered device is configured to separately power the first partition using power received from the first cable circuit and power the second partition using power received from the second cable circuit and to power isolate the first cable circuit from the second cable circuit. The powered device further comprises at least one isolation device coupled to the first partition and the second partition and configured to enable information to be communicated between the first partition and the second partition. Other embodiments are disclosed.

    Abstract: A communication system includes a receive antenna for receiving communication signals, processing circuitry for processing the received communication signals and repeating the signals for further transmission and at least one transmit antenna for transmitting the repeated signals. The processing circuitry utilizes configurable settings for controlling the operation of the communication system and the configurable settings are variable for varying the operation of the system.     Abstract: Telecommunication systems using multiple Nyquist zone operations are provided. In one aspect, a telecommunication system can include a first section and a second section. The first section can receive signals from at least one transmitting base station or transmitting terminal device. The received signals have frequencies in multiple frequency bands. The first section can also sample the received signals such that the received signals are aliased. The first section can also combine the aliased signals from the frequency bands into a combined frequency band in a common Nyquist zone. The second section can extract signals from the combined frequency band. The extracted signals are to be transmitted at frequencies in a frequency band from a Nyquist zone that is different than the common Nyquist zone. The second section can also transmit the extracted signals to at least one receiving base station or receiving terminal device. Other embodiments are disclosed.

    Abstract: A telecommunications system is provided that can re-sample a digitized signal at a resample rate that is based on one or more factors to better utilize bandwidth. The factors can include the bandwidth of the signal that the digitized signal represents, the amount of bandwidth owned or used by the carrier, the full bandwidth of the designated RF band, the bandwidth of the serial link, the frame length of the serial link, the segmentation of the frames on the serial link, and the capability of the equipment at the receiving end of a serial link. The re-sampled signal can be transmitted to another unit that is remote to the unit transmitting the signal. The other unit can include a re-sampling device that restores the re-sampled signal to a digital signal that can be converted to an analog signal for wireless transmission.

    Abstract: Certain aspects involve a wideband remote unit. The wideband remote unit can include one or more antennas and an analog-to-digital converter (“ADC”). The antenna can receive wideband signals. The wideband signals can include an uplink RF signal and a leaked downlink RF signal. The uplink RF signal can have an uplink signal power at or near a noise level. The leaked downlink RF signal can have a downlink signal power greater than the uplink signal power. The ADC can convert the received wideband signals to digital RF signals representing the uplink signal and the downlink signal. The wideband remote unit can transmit the digital RF signals to a unit of a DAS that is in communication with a base station.
