摘要: An authentication system may comprise: a first light source, a second light source, and at least three optically filtered light sensing devices. The first light source can have a first light source spectral distribution and can be capable of providing sufficient excitation to produce a photoluminescent emission from a medium comprising a luminescent tag and a color. The second light source can have a visible multi-wavelength spectral distribution and can be capable of providing sufficient visible multi-wavelength illumination of the medium to generate a second analog response. Each light sensing device can have a different device spectral sensitivity range.

摘要: Method for limiting the amount of radiation impinging on a radiation sensitive detector that is responsive to signals of interest having infrared wavelengths of approximately 3 to 14 microns, such as an infrared camera. The method includes: directing a radiation signal through a prism and toward the radiation sensitive detector; permitting the radiation signal to impinge upon the radiation sensitive detector, e.g. upon an infrared focal plane array in the camera, when the radiation is below a predetermined threshold; and directing radiation associated with the radiation signal but having wavelengths different from said signals of interest—e.g., wavelengths in the visible and near-infrared range—on a path external to the prism, in order to initiate the limiting of the radiation impinging upon the radiation sensitive detector when the predetermined threshold is exceeded. Also, a Total Internal Reflection device that includes a prism having a thin film coated on the back surface of said prism. The material making up the prism and the thin film are selected so that, in the presence of radiation having an intensity less than a certain threshold, the refractive index of the thin film is lower than that of the prism, and when the radiation has an intensity higher than that certain threshold, the refractive index of the thin film is higher than that of the prism.

摘要: The present invention provides pharmaceutical compositions comprising azelastine, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt or ester thereof including azelastine hydrochloride, and optionally one or more additional active agents. Preferred such compositions further comprise one or more pharmaceutically acceptable carriers or excipients that reduce the amount of post-nasal drip, and/or that minimize or mask the unpleasant bitter taste associated with post-nasal drip, of the compositions into the oral cavity, upon intranasal or ocular administration of the compositions. Especially effective excipients used in the compositions of the present invention are hypromellose as a viscosity modifier and sucralose as a taste-masking agent. The invention also provides methods of treating or preventing certain disorders, or symptomatic relief therefrom, by administering the compositions of the invention to a patient, e.g., for the symptomatic relief of allergic rhinitis, non-allergic vasomotor rhinitis, allergic conjunctivitis, as well as other disorders. The compositions and methods of the present invention provide significant value in terms of patient acceptability, convenience, and compliance.

摘要: An all-optical switching array for switching a direction of optical signals is presented. The all-optical switching array includes a first substrate. Furthermore, the all-optical switching array includes a plurality of optical switches disposed on the first substrate, wherein each of the plurality of optical switches comprises a first state and a second state and is configured to change the direction of an optical signal, depending on whether the optical switch is in the first state or the second state. The transition of the switch between the first state and the second state is triggered by an ultra-fast laser beam.

摘要: A system manages operating sessions of an executable application initiated via a browser application on a workstation. The system includes a detector, a monitor, a communicator, and a command processor. The detector detects initiation of a first operational session of an executable application on a workstation, wherein the initiation occurs in response to user activation of a displayed URL link. The monitor determines whether a previously initiated second operational session of the executable application is concurrently operational on the workstation by comparing a portion of the URL with stored data representing one or more URLs corresponding to one or more executable applications currently operational on the workstation. The command processor redirects the first operational session to a URL of the previously initiated second operational session of the executable application in response to a URL match determined by the comparison. The communicator terminates establishment of the first operational session.

摘要: A technique is provided for using a laser based X-ray source for imaging systems such as computed tomography (CT) system. The laser based X-ray source may be provided as an X-ray bulb that emits X-rays when exposed to a laser beam. The X-ray bulb includes a bulb envelope and a bulb coating disposed on a portion of the bulb envelope, such that it acts as a focusing surface. The X-ray bulb also includes a target rotating about an axis such that a varying portion of the target passes through the focal point of the focusing surface. An X-ray producing plasma is generated when the laser beam is focused on the rotating target via the bulb coating.

摘要: This invention relates to a lamellae tissue layer, comprising a grooved silk fibroin substrate comprising tissue-specific cells. The silk fibroin substrates provides an excellent means of controlling and culturing cell and extracellular matrix development. A multitude of lamellae tissue layers can be used to create a tissue-engineered organ, such as a tissue-engineered cornea. The tissue-engineered organ is non-immunogenic and biocompatible.
