摘要： An ink jet ink contains at least a coloring material and a specific water-soluble organic solvent and has both excellent color developability and excellent humidity resistance. The coloring material exhibits a small (9 or less) color difference ΔE value which is determined by a method including a series of specific steps and is represented as the square root of (L1−L2)2+(a1−a2)2+(b1−b2)2. The specific water-soluble organic solvent has an evaporation rate X smaller than that of water and a moisture absorptivity Y, the values of X and Y satisfying the relation of Y≦2.8X+10. The content of the specific water-soluble organic solvent is 50 mass % or more of the total amount of water-soluble organic solvents contained in the ink.

摘要： Provided is an ink jet ink containing a coloring material having a buffer region in an ink use range, the ink jet ink being capable of suppressing the occurrence of the deterioration (dissolution) of a heating portion surface in contact with liquid; and the disconnection of wiring for applying a voltage to a heating portion even when long term continuous printing is performed. The ink jet ink is used for an ink jet recording apparatus equipped with a recording head having a heating portion surface in contact with liquid comprising a metal and/or a metal oxide. The ink jet ink contains a coloring material in a content (mass %) of 3 mass % or more with respect to the total mass of the ink jet ink. A combination of a cyan, magenta and yellow dye respectively contained in the cyan, magenta and yellow ink is selected so as to satisfy the condition that optical density retentions of images formed by a cyan ink for evaluation containing the cyan dye, a magenta ink for evaluation containing the magenta dye and a yellow ink for evaluation containing the yellow dye, as determined before and after an ozone resistance test with an integral ozone concentration of 800 ppm·hr and before and after a xenon light resistance test with an integral irradiance of 43,800 klx·hr, are 70% or more for each of the inks for evaluation and are such that a maximum value of differences of the optical density retentions among the images formed by the respective inks for evaluation is 15 or less.
