    摘要: 3-Formyltetrahydrothiopyrans are prepared by hydrogenating a 3-formyl-5,6-dihydro-2H-thiopyran in the presence of a catalyst containing nickel, cobalt, platinum, copper and/or silver; if necessary, the 3-formyl-5,6-dihydro-2H-thiopyrans are prepared by converting bis-(.beta.-formylethyl) sulfides and/or 3-formyl-4-hydroxytetrahydrothiopyrans in the presence of an acidic catalyst, and, if required, these bis-(.beta.-formylethyl) sulfides and/or 3-formyl-4-hydroxytetrahydrothiopyrans are prepared by reacting an acrolein with hydrogen sulfide (a) in the presence of a basic catalyst and of methylene chloride, aromatic hydrocarbons and/or 1,1,2-trichloroethane as solvents, and/or (b) in the presence of a carboxamide.The compounds obtainable by the process according to the invention are useful starting materials for the preparation of dyes, drugs and pesticides.

    摘要: The sugar content of plants is increased by a method in which the plants are treated, from 1 to 15 weeks prior to harvesting, with a compound of the formula (I) ##STR1## where R.sup.1 is alkyl of 1 to 4 carbon atoms, R.sup.2 is alkyl of 1 to 4 carbon atoms, unsubstituted or halogen-substituted alkenyl of 3 to 5 carbon atoms or alkynyl of not more than 5 carbon atoms, R.sup.3 is a non-aromatic heterocyclic structure which has 5 to 7 ring members and no double bonds or one double bond in a heterocyclic ring, contains 1 or 2 hetero atoms from the group consisting of sulfur and oxygen, and can be substituted by alkyl of not more than 3 carbon atoms, and X is H or C00-alkyl, or one of its plant-tolerated salts.

    摘要: Rack segments are formed with teeth to mesh with drive gears of a mining machine to propel it along a conveyor. The drive gears are spaced apart and mounted on a drive shaft with a sleeve member therebetween to engage the top surface of a rack segment. The rack segment has a rectangular body with arch-shaped upper and lower surfaces. Opposite end portions have a vertical hole to receive a support member which is anchored in place by a pin passed through an opening transversely thereto and arranged along a horizontal plane of symmetry. Attachments forming gear teeth project at uniformly-spaced intervals from opposite lateral sides of the rack body. The attachments have involute-like flanks extending upwardly and downwardly from the horizontal plane of symmetry such that a worn rack segment can be continually used by inverting its position 180.degree..

    摘要: A support arm for a cutter drum carried on a longwall mining machine characterized in being formed from two telescoping parts, at least one of which is movable axially relative to the other to change the length of the arm. This enables the mining machine to cut material from a coal seam with one support arm length and roadways at opposite ends of the seam face with longer support arm lengths without the necessity for raising the mining machine on its support tracks in the roadway areas or otherwise adjusting the vertical heights of the support arms.
