Abstract:
A stabilized pharmaceutical composition of anticancer drug and a solvent like Polyethoxylated castor oil (cremophor) also containing any other suitable solubilizer suitable for human administration like dehydrated alcohol, is disclosed. Compositions prepared using this purified polyethoxylated castor oil enhance the stability of paclitaxel in such compositions.
Abstract:
Devices and techniques for out-of-band platform tuning and configuration are described herein. A device can include a telemetry interface to a telemetry collection system and a network interface to network adapter hardware. The device can receive platform telemetry metrics from the telemetry collection system, and network adapter silicon hardware statistics over the network interface, to gather collected statistics. The device can apply a heuristic algorithm using the collected statistics to determine processing core workloads generated by operation of a plurality of software systems communicatively coupled to the device. The device can provide a reconfiguration message to instruct at least one software system to switch operations to a different processing core, responsive to detecting an overload state on at least one processing core, based on the processing core workloads. Other embodiments are also described.
Abstract:
Various embodiments of systems and methods for managing a plurality of nodes in a distributed computing environment are described herein. Initially a request to process a to-be-processed request is received. Next one or more nodes from a plurality of nodes, included in a cluster, is identified to process the to-be-processed request. Next the to-be-processed request is divided into a plurality of sub-requests. Next the plurality of sub-requests are assigned to the identified one or more nodes and the generated additional node. A node failure of one of the one or more identified nodes is identified. Finally, one or more of the plurality of sub-requests assigned to the failed node is re-assigned to another node of the plurality of nodes.
Abstract:
Various embodiments of systems and methods for recommending applications to portable electronic devices are described herein. Initially a context change of an application identification parameter is detected. Based on the detected context change, a target application, from a plurality of applications, may be identified. A similarity value is then computed between the identified target application and another application. Finally, an application to be recommended to a portable electronic device is determined based on the computed similarity value and a rate value of another application.

Abstract:
Presented are systems and methods that allow for interpolation of a 3-D volume from arbitrarily oriented 2-D medical images. The interpolation of 3-D volume from arbitrarily oriented 2-D images reduces or eliminates most constraints on image acquisition thereby allowing for, inter alia, freehand manipulation of an image acquisition device (e.g. an ultrasound transducer). Related utilities involve the use of prior information about a specific object of interest to interpolate a surface (e.g., 3-D surface) of the object from limited information obtained from very few 2-D images.
Abstract:
A method for modeling performance of an information technology system having one or more servers for serving a number of types of transactions includes modeling a service time of each transaction type at each server and a processor overhead at each server as one of a polynomial, exponential, or logarithmic function of the average arrival rate of each transaction type at the corresponding server to generate service time and processor overhead functions and inferring optimal values of coefficients in the service time and processor overhead functions to generate a performance model of the information technology system.
Abstract:
Provided herein are devices and methods for mounting variously configured medical imaging probes for imaging applications. In one aspect, a holding device allows for interfacing/holding most conventional ultrasound probes such that the probes may be attached to a positioning device using a common interface. As ultrasound probes come in various sizes and lengths, the device may adjust to different lengths, widths and shapes of different probes. Hence, the device may work in a substantially universal manner while securely holding probes with little wobble or other problems.

Abstract:
The present invention provides means of identifying a sound or acoustic event and converting this into suitable information for the user. This may be used for remote monitoring, for defense, for health applications, and for helping hearing impaired people for identifying the sounds. The system may also be used by a user for source of sound authentication/identification system and method, in which authentication of a user (if the purpose) is performed by verification of the voice of the user representing his or her biometrics, unique to a desired user. The audio data is not required to be stored for the purpose, instead the statistical properties of the temporal and spectral/wavelet coefficients or the weights of the trained neural network thus ensuring security of the data and small size of the stored data making it suitable for applications such as smart cards. The system is able to function in high noise environment, and when there may be multiple events overlapping.
