    Abstract: A bioderived based plasticizer is produced by reacting a bioderived diol (and/or a bioderived alcohol) and a bioderived carboxylic acid in the presence of N,N′-dicyclohexylcarbodiimide (DCC), wherein the bioderived carboxylic acid includes a hydrolyzed oil. The bioderived carboxylic acid (e.g., linoleic acid, α-linolenic acid, oleic acid, and mixtures thereof) may be produced by hydrolyzing a triglyceride, such as canola oil, linseed oil, soybean oil, and mixtures thereof. In one embodiment of the present invention, a bioderived based plasticizer is produced by reacting 2,5-bis-(hydroxymethyl)furan and α-linolenic acid in the presence of DCC. In some embodiments of the present invention, the bioderived based plasticizer is blended into one or more polymers.

    Abstract: A salt-based device and a circuit to monitor and log the time periods a data center air's relative humidity goes above a predefined limit. The choice of the salt is such that its deliquescent relative humidity is equal to the desired limit, so that above the desired limit, the salt gets wet and therefore electrically conductive. An alarm can then give notice that relative humidity levels are above acceptable levels so that remedial action may be taken before problems such as electronic malfunction develop.

    Abstract: To provide for a physical security mechanism that forms a complete envelope of protection around the cryptographic module to detect and respond to an unauthorized attempt at physical access, a tamper sensing encapsulant generally encapsulates the cryptographic module. The tamper sensing encapsulant includes a first shape actuation layer associated with an electrically conductive first trace element and a second shape actuation layer associated with an electrically conductive second trace element. The first shape actuation layer is positioned against the second shape actuation layer such that the first trace element and the second trace element do not physically touch at an operating temperature of the cryptographic module and do physically touch when the first shape actuation layer and the second shape actuation layer are thermally loaded. Upon first trace element and the second trace element touching, a circuit is formed that disables the cryptographic module.

    Abstract: A computer processor operating an input method editor (IME) receives an input of a phonetic word. The processor identifies one or more word characters corresponding to the phonetic word, wherein each of the one or more word characters represents one or more words of a first language. The processor translates each of the one or more word characters that correspond to the phonetic word into a second language, and the processor displays each of the one or more word characters of the first language and a translation into the second language of each of the one or more word characters of the first language.
