A rake reception apparatus for determining whether a paging channel is received in a mobile terminal using a Discontinuous Reception (DRX) mode. A searcher searches for a multi-path signal using a received signal output from a Radio Frequency (RF) part, and calculates an energy value for each hypothesis. A demodulator demodulates a Paging Indicator (PI) for a hypothesis for which an energy value calculated by the searcher exceeds a valid path threshold. A controller determines whether a paging channel is received, according to the demodulated signal output from the demodulator, and performs finger allocation using a multi-path search of the searcher if it is determined that the paging channel is transmitted.

The method includes performing at a first transmission time a process of hierarchizing a series of resource units constituting the service frequency band in a plurality of levels, and hierarchically dividing the series of resource units into blocks including at least one consecutive resource unit in each of the levels, and allocating some of the hierarchically divided blocks as frequency resources for each of the terminals; and performing, at a second transmission time following the first transmission time, a process of hierarchically hopping the blocks allocated as the frequency resources for each of the terminals so that the blocks each have a different frequency band from a frequency band used at the first transmission time, and allocating the hopped blocks as frequency resources for each of the terminals.

A base station measures interference in a cell divided into a plurality of beamforming areas, determines an Interference Availability Bit (IAB) of a specific area where the measured interference is greater than or less than a threshold, and forms a beam so as to transmit the determined IAB to a beamforming area including the specific area. A terminal receiving the formed beam receives the IAB, and controls reverse transmission power according to the received IAB.

A transmitter modulates the broadcast parameter message and provides the modulated broadcast parameter message to a terminal that receives the broadcast service.

A mobile station positioning system is also provided including at least three neighboring base stations for transmitting signals synchronized at a predetermined time and controlling forward transmission power of the signals during a scheduled time interval; a mobile station calculating arrival time differences between two of the signals received from the at least three neighboring base stations; and a serving base station included in the at least three neighboring base stations for receiving the arrival time differences from the mobile station and determining a position of the mobile station using the arrival time differences.
